We're running a relay across 300+ miles of the Cornish coastline in aid of The Maiden Factor Foundation - inspiring girls across the world.

Between the 18th-21st June, we're going to be running a relay race across 300+ miles of Cornish coastline in an effort to raise money for The Maiden Factor Foundation. This wonderful charity supports and works with community programmes all over the world which empower and enable girls into education.
We hope you'll join us in supporting this brilliant cause.

Maiden is the boat that carried the first all-female crew to sail around the world when Tracy Edwards MBE skippered her in the 1989/90 Whitbread Round the World Race.
Despite fierce opposition, sexism and criticism, Tracy and her team not only reached the start and raced around the world, they won two of the toughest legs. After surviving a tornado and the final five days with no food, the team arrived home to a rapturous welcome. Their final position was 2nd place overall in their class; the best result for a British boat in 17 years and unbeaten to this day.
Feeling inspired yet? Watch this clip to hear a little more of Tracy's story.
Following this incredible feat, Tracy Edwards founded The Maiden Factor Foundation. The charity has a mission of ‘inspiring and empowering women and girls to reach their potential through education and bringing awareness of gender inequality, specifically for disenfranchised women and girls globally with no access to education, to give them the fighting chance they deserve’.

Since starting their charitable work five years ago, The Maiden Factor Foundation has launched a number of initiatives to highlight and create awareness of the 130 million girls worldwide who currently are not afforded an education and raising funds for charities currently facilitating that basic human right.
In November 2018 Maiden set sail on a three-year, 90,000 mile world tour covering over 40 stops in over 20 countries.
Maiden will be challenging social norms and through the presence of the boat and their massive global reach, changing the narrative around what girls can achieve. The Maiden crew aims to reach millions of girls and their families and communities in countries around the world in order to reshape what we think of girls and how we value them.
Covid-19 has interrupted the essential work The Maiden Factor Foundation has been doing around the world. They are fundraising to keep the programme going and support these young women and girls.
Let's come together to keep Maiden moving!

The spirit of this adventure in spite of adversity will live on as a rich source of inspiration to us all to keep challenging and believing in ourselves.
In the theme of true Maiden ambition we are taking up the mantle to find our own adventure in a fundraising opportunity to support this incredible story.
Between the 18th-21st June (midsummer) 30 people have answered the call to run or walk in a non-stop relay spanning the entire coast of Cornwall (300 miles). Our aim is to break up the coast into 10 miles sections and run through the night if possible! The whole relay will be done with social distancing measures in place.
We are hoping that each of the 30+ participants will individually raise £100 which will mean at least £3,000 raised for the charity.

We're a mixed bunch of salty sorts, retired pirates and running and walking enthusiasts. We are busy splitting up the 300 mile coastline into 10 mile sections. If you'd like to join us on your own local 10 mile section, walking or running, please get in touch with me at [email protected] and I'll give you the details for where to start and finish.

We believe that women and girls have a right to education, and to feel valued in their communities.
If you believe in this cause too, you can pledge your support with a donation or get in touch to join the relay crew. Please donate as much or as little as you can to support this brilliant charity. Thank you for joining us and empowering women and girls around the world.
Best wishes,
Bertie and The Crew
