Oliver is currently a sitting Councillor on North East Lincolnshire Council. He was elected in 2018 to a seat no one thought he could win, including colleagues on his own team. Not only did he win it, he won it with a 156 vote majority with a 700 vote swing in a seat which has never been anything but Labour since the authorities inception.
He also received local and national media attention as at 18 years old in 2018 he was elected as the youngest councillor in the country at the time.
In his first term he proved his worth with a proactive approach to helping anyone and everyone across his ward and the wider authority area who needed it. A few example include during Covid he spearheaded a project to bring food parcels to those who are most vulnerable. He sourced much needed funding for one of the largest Youth & Community Hubs in the area and he has implemented speed reduction measures around local schools. He's kept in touch with his constituents either out and about, home visits, phone calls and of course through the local media. As such he went on to win his second term in 2022 with an increase in vote share and his majority went up to 338 votes where others either lost their seats or received a lower vote share from their previous election.
