This year long project will explore cooperative living, bringing our community together to create a richer, happier and healthier Penzance.
Hello,
My name is Roselyne Williams.
I am one of the team at Redwing CIC, a volunteer led arts and community hub, established in 2011.
At Redwing we have become acutely aware of the problems that people experience when it comes to housing and loneliness.
Crowdfunding, along with assistance from Homes England has recently enabled us to launch Redwing Housing Cooperative as a newly registered housing cooperative for artists, writers and musicians in West Cornwall.
What do we want to do?
Why is this important?
This year long project will enable us all to make some important changes in how we live. It will energise is to do things differently, develop and use different skills to create a richer, happier and healthier community.
What will the funding be spent on?
Building raised beds to grow edible produce in Penzance town. £100
Ordering seeds and plugs for vegetable and fruit growing. £50
Buying gardening equipment £50
Hiring a Vegan Community Kitchen for a year including use of electricity £1000
Organising regular social meetings including vegan meals and indoor and outdoor events. £200
The Long Term Aim
The long term aim is for the Redwing Housing Cooperative to purchase property for members to rent affordable and long-term personal living space alongside shared communal kitchen, dining, living, working, creative and amenity space.
In the right property the housing cooperative and Redwing Community Interest Company will be able to work together in partnership to compliment each others work.
Cornwall Social Inclusion Fund has provided £1,120 of match funding
