To raise funds so that additional food can be procured, stored and distributed to 6 food banks free of charge, thereby reducing food poverty

by Mike Court in Stafford, Staffordshire, United Kingdom

We are Stafford Community Food Distribution Hub CiC. Our vision is to enable all people who suffer from food poverty in the Borough of Stafford to have access to additional food.

The number of individuals and families who rely on the support of foodbanks has grown so significantly that every foodbank is unable to meet the demand through their normal activities, to the extent that they are having to buy the food they need.

To begin to address this challenge a group of volunteers set up a Community Interest Company (CiC) in November 2022 at the suggestion of, and with a grant from, Stafford Borough Council. 6 local foodbanks are members of the CiC.

We have been procuring food from FareShare Midlands on a  weekly basis since December 2022. This food is stored and then distributed to the 6 food banks free of charge.

More recently we have been receiving food from other sources in partnership with a local charity.

The major cost to the CiC is to support FareShares operational costs. The monthly cost is approximately £1500. We very much welcome your support, particularly as the grant from the Council will only cover costs for the next two months.
