The Club
Redruth Rugby football club was formed in 1875 and is regarded as one of the most respected clubs in the game. The club are based at the Recreation Ground and have been at this location since the 1930's. The ground is the home of the iconic 'Hellfire Corner' which is synonymous with the game throughout the rugby world. In recent years the club has maintained its position in both level 3 (2005-2011) and in level 4 in the remaining years since the leagues inception back in 1987.
Its Operation
The club is the central part of the local community and is the hub where many congregate at weekends to watch the Reds play league rugby or to participate and play in its vibrant Mini/Youth section which boasts nearly 300 players. Match Day crowds are and have been the best experienced in the leagues for many years. The public's interest goes above and beyond the general support other clubs experience. The club is also actively involved with the Wooden Spoon charity for whom it has raised substantial sums of money in the past.
The Challenge
During this inexplicable period of time, the club continues to plan its recovery. Being deprived the opportunity of the end of season club and county games and, with the local economy taking a huge hit, the situation facing the club is demanding. Operational costs still have to be met and there are some improvements that were planned to improve the facilities, have been put on hold. The club is regularly used by Slimming Clubs and Charity organisations for meeting and seminars. the club is the base for many other organisations and having to restrict its availability causes further challenges to our ongoing financial viability.
What You Can Do
In light of this, the club are looking to access the scheme jointly launched by Sport England and Crowdfunder to raise £10,000 to enable it to improve the facilities, both playing and non-playing, and provide the upkeep and ongoing maintenance of our existing facilities by our volunteer work force. The joint initiative provided by Sport England and Crowdfunder will pledge a 50% match (up to £10K) to our proposed sum. In order for us to obtain the pledge we have to raise 25% of our £10K target and to get the pledge we have to raise the full amount. this is where you, our valued sponsors, members, and supporters can help. Please help us through these extraordinary times and contribute to the ongoing development of your club.
