We’re raising funds to transform two long-retired tennis courts into vibrant, all-year-round playing surfaces for the community to enjoy
Redland Green Club is a thriving rackets club in the Redland area of Bristol. The members owned club has over 1000 adult members regularly playing tennis, squash and padel. We also offer pay and play tennis, squash and padel which is very popular with over 700 hours of use by visitors so far in 2025. The club also has a large successful tennis and squash junior programmes with coaching being delivered to 100s of children every week.

Racket sports have been played on Redland Green for over 100 years. There were once 17 grass courts on the site as well as a clubhouse with 8 squash courts. Over the last 50 years the club has had numerous financial challenges but in recent years has been very successful. The club now has waiting lists for new members, it is very difficult for pay and play users to get a court and the club is near capacity for junior coaching programmes.
The club has land that was historically used for tennis courts that has been fallow for a number of years. Various schemes have been drawn up to convert the land into residential property but we want to retain the land for sporting use. As the 1st step in the expansion of the club to enable more people to enjoy racket sports at the club we plan to build 2 new floodlit tennis courts.
The overall cost of this development is over £200k and the club is looking to fund this from a combination of retained earnings, an LTA loan and a Sport England Movement Fund grant with match funding through this crowdfunding campaign.

All the money raised from this campaign will be used for the construction of the 2 courts. Planning permission has been applied for and if successful a procurement process has already been begun to collect quotes in order to select a prime contractor to deliver the project.
By building these new courts we will:
Enable more members to enjoy playing tennis at the club
Allow current members to play on a different court surface
Maintain and expand the successful junior tennis programme
Enable club members to play tennis whilst county tournaments are being hosted
Provide more capacity for visitors to book pay and play sessions
