At Redberth Croft CIC, we believe that everyone; and every animal, deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the challenges they've faced.

Our community farm in Pembrokeshire is built on lived experience. Every day rescued animals work alongside veterans, neurodivergent individuals, unpaid carers, young people and others facing barriers to employment, education or wellbeing or at risk of social exclusion. Together, they create an environment where confidence is rebuilt, skills are developed and lives are changed.

Today, we're asking for your help to give one of those remarkable animals the second chance she deserves.

Meet Rose

Affectionately known as Rose although officially unnamed , this beautiful four-year-old Thoroughbred mare has already touched the hearts of everyone she's met. She is by the outstanding Godolphin stallion Iffraaj (GB) out of Labise (IRE); a pedigree that once promised a bright future on the racecourse.

But that future never came. Rose never raced. She was never officially named.

Instead, she has lived with a bone deformity known as a club foot, leaving her intermittently lame and preventing her from fulfilling the potential she was born with.

Despite this, she remains one of the sweetest, kindest horses we've ever known. She has an incredible ability to quietly connect with people who are struggling, offering calmness, reassurance and companionship without asking for anything in return. 

We believe she deserves the same kindness she gives so freely to others. 

A Life-Changing Opportunity

Following specialist assessment by Cotts Equine Hospital, Rose has been diagnosed with a Type 1 flexural limb deformity (club foot).

Our veterinary surgeon has recommended an Inferior Check Ligament Desmotomy, a procedure that offers a very encouraging prognosis.

In an incredibly generous gesture, Richard Coomer and the team at Cotts Equine Hospital have agreed to perform Rose's surgery at a substantially reduced charitable rate. Their generosity has brought life-changing treatment within reach; but we still need your help to make it happen.

Where Your Donation Will Go

We're aiming to raise £3,000 to cover every stage of Rose's recovery.

💊 Medication and post-operative veterinary care

👨‍⚕️ Follow-up examinations and monitoring

🦶 Specialist corrective farriery - carefully reshaping her hoof over the coming months to give her the best possible long-term outcome.

🌿 Rehabilitation - supporting Rose through her recovery until she can enjoy a comfortable, active life. 

Any funds raised beyond Rose's treatment costs will be used to support the veterinary care and rehabilitation of other rescued animals at Redberth Croft CIC.

Perhaps the most remarkable part of Rose's journey is that, despite being four years old, she has never officially been named. As a special thank you, if someone is able to make an exceptional contribution towards Rose's treatment, we'd love to offer the opportunity to choose her official registered name (subject to Weatherbys naming rules and approval), becoming a permanent part of her story.
