To raise money to continue band development and to support it's members, who have seen all music related income wiped out since Covid-19.
The Red Hot Rhythm Makers provide fun, accessible New Orleans and Mississippi jazz and blues. Their repertoire consists of old American prohibition era folk, hot roots jazz, pre-electric blues and hokum.
Formed in Edinburgh in 2018, this all-women band quickly made a name for themselves on the Scottish jazz scene. They have performed across the UK, including sell out shows the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival, Aberdeen Jazz Festival, Insriach Gin and Jazz Festival, Eden Festival and the Audacious Women Festival. The band were featured on BBC Radio Scotland's 'Jazz Nights' program, as part of their International Women's Day coverage.
Their sold-out run at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival received 5 star reviews and they were featured in Mervyn Strutter's 'Pick of The Fringe' 2019, often referred to as the 'Royal Variety of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival'.
Musicians have been devastated by the impact of Covid-19 and the loss of all income since the end of March. However, they have continued to do what they do best: make music. This virtual show of newer songs that would have featured in their 2020 programme has taken an incredible effort from all members, and has been in the making since June 2020, with all performers recording their own parts in their own homes. There are some new songs and some old favourites!
You can get the link for the video concert in our Rewards. The funds raised from this virtual concert will go towards supporting members of the band, and hopefully allow them to continue making music together for a long time to come.
