For over 50 years, Mount St. Joseph’s Care Home in Leeds has been a place of love and care for the elderly poor. Today, it stands empty.
The discovery of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in the roof has rendered the building unsafe, forcing its heart-breaking closure and displacing its residents. But we refuse to let this be the end.
The Little Sisters of the Poor are determined to rebuild, creating independent living apartments for vulnerable older people in Leeds that offer:
- Safe, purpose-built housing designed for comfort, accessibility and security.
- A caring, faith-filled community where older people can live independently while still having access to essential support.
- Modern communal spaces that foster social connections, reducing isolation and promoting well-being.
- An affordable living option for those with limited means, ensuring that no elderly person is left without a home.
To do this, we urgently need your support. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to restoring a home where the elderly can live with dignity and security.
Crucial funds will be used to:
- Demolish the unsafe building and clear the site for redevelopment.
- Construct new independent living apartments with modern, accessible facilities.
- Create communal spaces that promote social interaction and support networks.
- Ensure essential safety features are in place, providing a secure and comfortable environment for all residents.
Please give today and help us rebuild hope in Leeds.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
