On December 16, 2021, Super Typhoon category 5 Odette (Rai) hit the islands of the Philippines and they are in dire need of help.

We're still collecting donations

On the 28th February 2022 we'd raised £366 with 26 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Who are we and why are we raising money for?

I'm Marine and with my partner Laura we are medical volunteers supporting Isla Medical Foundation in Siargao island, small remote island with under-served communities in the south-east Philippines.

Back in December 2021, a super typhoon category 5 hit the Philippines and destroyed some areas, leaving its people without a roof, basic necessities and having to face the aftermath during rainy season and pandemic times.

We are raising money to support Isla Medical Foundation's Rebuild Siargao project including medical missions on the island,  also community kitchen "feeding programs", farming and rebuilding houses and facilities. All the money raised will go to support Isla Medical Foundation Fundraiser.

Important information: donations are gratefully accepted from anywhere; however the prize draw section only applies to Swansea residents and surrounding areas and over 18 (please see below for more informations regarding our prize draw).

For the people who cannot enter the prize draw, we also do accept international donations and donations in any kind :)
(for physical donations like clothes, medicines, materials etc, there are some drop-off points set up, please get in touch for more information).

Please help if you can and share to spread the word and increase the awareness of their situation so that help may come.

Thank you for reading and supporting :)

About our actions

Isla Medical Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides medical support, supplies and education to under-served communities. We are currently focusing our fundraising efforts towards disaster relief to the island of Siargao, monitoring and coordinating with the on/offsite organizations and people that can help distributing emergency supplies needed for the meantime, and also support the island on long term to help its people rebuild and get their lives back.

Even if luckily most of the people survived, lots of them are still reported missing, also some remote/less popular affected areas are still in dire need of emergency goods. Most of Filipinos may have survived the typhoon, but they yet have to survive the aftermath which is described as the toughest part from the latest updates we received from our on site friends/contacts. It is even more crucial to build awareness as the international media coverage is poor, and also as people are without basic necessities such as shelter during the rainy season and very little amounts of drinking water/food, or even suffering from dehydration or infectious diseases.

Communicating and coordinating are our best assets being afar, in order to understand what are the emergency needs and also the long term ones.

As we are working directly with volunteers, organizations and the LGU (Local Government Unit), we are ensuring that we are targeting reliable, trusty organizations/people in order to benefit directly Siargao Island.

About our story

We feel powerless to witness the Philippines' situation from afar, especially since we lived and volunteered there and knowing that our good friends are struggling, surviving... It is heartbreaking, and today more than ever it is our choice to give back to the community, to support them and help them get through these tough times the best we can so they get their lives back.

We understand that times are hard for everyone during pandemic, but imagine on the top of it, these people have lost everything, and it will take a long time for them to recover. It is time to care for each other, we are all sharing the same planet and lately we can witness natural disasters rising, the climate change needs all of us to make a move. Spreading awareness and doing little actions on an everyday basis is a start to make things better.
