Hello! We're Angle, a non-profit Community Interest Company in Peterborough!
We do a whole bunch of cool leisure and recreation activities - we have a free third community space with our gaming lounge, we offer escape rooms and axe throwing, we run large gaming events and live events including (but not limited to!) drag nights, grass root LGBT+ acts and quiz nights.
We offer free sessions to local schools and community groups, work with other local good causes and offer a safe, consistent community space for everyone from LGBT+ individuals, home-schooling groups, young people in care to those with mental health difficulties and neurodiverse community members, amongst a lot else!
Why are we crowdfunding?
In June last year, we proudly opened the doors to our community bouldering wall, a space built with the goal of bringing people together, getting our city active, and making climbing accessible to everyone.
We are a registered Community Interest Company with a mission to support and uplift all communities in Peterborough through movement, inclusion, social wellbeing and shared challenge.
Since opening, we’ve welcomed climbers of all ages and abilities. Families, students, new climbers, and seasoned pros alike. Local primary schools have recently started visiting for climbing sessions, and all our route setting is carried out voluntarily by the amazing Peterborough Mountaineering Club. It’s truly a space built by and for the community.
Unfortunately, a few days ago, disaster struck. Our wall was flooded with sewage water due to a poorly maintained off-site drain, causing significant damage to the space and rendering our matting, one of the most essential safety components, completely unusable.
We cannot reopen until the space is cleaned, repaired, and, most urgently, until we can replace the matting.
We need your help!
As a small community organisation, we simply don’t have the reserves to cover this kind of unexpected emergency. Without outside support, it may be months before we can reopen, leaving our community without this vital, inclusive space. Every donation, no matter how small, will help us bounce back and continue our mission.
Your support will directly fund the replacement of matting and essential clean-up, so we can get back to doing what we love. Supporting our community through climbing.
If you’ve ever climbed with us, if you believe in accessible sport, or if you want to help keep this space alive for future community use, please consider donating or sharing this page.
Thank you for your support and solidarity. We can’t wait to climb with you again soon!
How we’ll spend the money raised
The lowest quote we've received to replace the matting to an appropriate standard is £21,000, after reaching out to several providers.
Any funds raised will go directly to this figure to replace the damaged matting and supporting getting this community wall back open!
How you can play your part
There are a few simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality!
Have you considered:
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Donate materials. If you happen to be sitting on a whole lot of bouldering matts you don't need, feel free to send them our way! Other materials are also gratefully accepted!
3. Any other support. If you can think of another way to help, please feel free to reach out. We'd love to hear from you!
Thank you for taking the time to read through - we really hope to be climbing again soon!
