Aim

Fundraising for the families of those who have died, and anyone who has been affected by the attack at The Forbury Gardens.

The appalling attacks in Forbury Gardens on the evening of Saturday 20 June have devastated the entire community of Reading, and touched people around the country and across the world.

The thoughts of everyone who live and work in the town remain with the families and friends of the victims – James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wails – and with those who were harmed by the event, whether physically, mentally or psychologically.

Forbury Gardens has been at the centre of our town, both physically and spiritually for centuries, and the image of the Maiwand Lion stands as a constant reminder of the town’s strength, compassion and unity.

At times such as these, it is natural for people to want to come together and help those affected by such an horrific incident.

This Crowdfunder has been set up to support all those who who have been affected by this tragedy. Funds raised will be used to support the families of the men who died, James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wails, those who were injured in the attacks, and anyone who has been affected by this tragedy; to put towards a permanent memorial; and to provide other support for the people of Reading to come to terms with what has happened within our town.

All contributions will be held by the Berkshire Community Foundation.

Distribution of funding will be agreed by the Community Foundation and the Council; for any additional activities and memorials, these will be made in consultation with residents.
