Aim
Pledges and Pedals Powering Our Community Together Support afffordable active travel across Reading with Reading Bike Hub.
We've found an incredible space in central Reading (by the George Hotel!) to run an affordable bike repair shop and bike library.
We'll offer bike repairs, affordable bikes and long term loans of children bikes, that grow as they grow along side workshops.
We'll colloborate with other groups to run repair cafes, learn to ride and space to colloborate on all things active travel and climate related.
The team are formed of Kidical Mass Reading founder Kat, Stumbles Cycles Jamie, Nieve from Reading Bike Kitchen and Udo who has set up a similar space in Staines, The Talking Tree.
Kat's a solo parent who's always cycled, after complaining that bike shops and kids don't mix our project will provide a space for smaller kids to do balance bike courses while their adults' bike gets fixed, along side some toys and colouring books for our younger audience.
We'll use the money to get the tools, advertise the space and provide as many free workshops as we can. We want as many people as possible to be able to access affordable travel, the project will teach people the skills to cycle and maintain their bikes. And if you really just don't want to learn to do repairs then we'll do them for you :) no judgement.
