Providing families with vital digital skills training and their own refurbished devices, supporting them to not only survive, but to thrive!

Project by COMMUNITY TECHAID

We are a start-up recruitment agency called DS Group and we specialise in hiring AI professionals who are all solving real world problems. We’re a group of 9 young professionals, who are wanting to raise money for our partnered charity: Community TechAid.

Now, how are we going to do this? By doing the highest freefall abseil from the UK’s tallest sculpture - of course!

While a lot of us are questioning why we chose to do this crazy descent for our fundraising event: we’re all very excited to be taking our fundraising to new heights and proud to be facing a few of our fears for a more than worthy cause.

Where will the donations be going?

All fundraising efforts will provide families (with children under the age of 5) with vital digital skills training and their own refurbished laptops.

These families, supported by the North Lambeth Better Start Area Children's Centres, are reporting that the digital divide is detrimental to their ability to function and ultimately thrive. Lack of access to digital devices impacts all aspects of family life; managing finances, employment, education, healthcare and more and simple day-to-day tasks are instantly more challenging without access to a device and regular, reliable connectivity to the internet.

Workshops will be provided to these families, and we believe these will be one very important step in helping to break these cycles of deprivation.

Community TechAid will be leading this project and with your help, hope to start the first workshop during the autumn term of this year.

So, who is Community TechAid?

They’re a young charity who are closing the digital divide by providing technology and skills to our communities, whilst recycling, reusing and repairing e-waste.

Their goal is to provide our community with the three fundamentals of digital inclusion: access to technology, connectivity and the knowledge and skills to access the online world. The digital world is a vital part of our everyday life, it is unavoidable. Yet, thousands in our community are being cut off from vital services and support, unable to fully engage. Being online is no longer a ‘nice to have’, it is a necessity, and Community TechAid’s work is helping to remove barriers exacerbated by digital exclusion.

Both DS Group and Community TechAid revolve around the tech-industry, and more specifically we share a passion for Tech For Good. It is within this alignment where our values, vision and mission reflect each other's and demonstrates a clear purpose for our collaboration in closing the digital divide.

Thank you so much for all your support. Any donation is hugely appreciated and please share our message far and wide.
