We know practical solutions can be a huge help so we'd like to buy laptops for our centre so men can apply for housing, jobs and benefits.
Although we are focused on men's mental health,
we know practical solutions can be a huge help so we're raising funds to buy laptops for the men who access our service to use. We will offer free access to the laptops and our Wi-Fi to make it easier for those attending the centre to keep track of bills, search and apply for jobs, and complete housing and benefit applications. Men who attend come from areas of high deprivation, and high unemployment so we want to help by giving access to tools that can help build stability. Many of our members do not have access to the internet at home so having laptops they can use while in the centre will mean that they will be able to receive help in navigating sites which can be difficult for those who are not used to filling in applications online. We also know using a laptop is much easier than zooming in with a mobile phone screen!

The Reach launched in 2017 with the aim to fill the gap in mental health support for men in Sefton. Through conversations with men in the area we found that there was a demand for an informal drop-in service where men could socialise with others and receive signposting to relevant services.
Over the past 5 years we have provided a range of services aimed at reducing isolation and improving the mental health of men in the area. We currently run support groups where men can meet to share experiences, play pool and chat. They can also receive support from our guest speakers, obtain sign posting to other local services, or gain skills through various courses. We also provide support through our one-to-one counselling service. All services provided are free of charge to service users.
Our service was steadily growing, but the global pandemic saw a substantial increase in demand for both counselling and drop-in support leading to us expand. We made the decision to move from our local neighbourhood centre to our own premises to offer more time and flexibility to those needing help.
