Re-open the doors of P Franco
by William Gee in London, Greater London, United Kingdom
Any additional funds will go into the security of the business - providing security for creditors. Also maintenance works needed on the site that would be considered optional may become a possibility.
For almost a decade, P.Franco has been at the centre of London's natural wine scene, but in March 2023 the business was unexpectedly shut down over night. Having been P.Franco's manager for nearly 2 years, and part of London's food and wine scene for 8, the thought of seeing P.Franco close its doors permanently isn't something I'm willing to accept. Seeing the response from the public to the announcement was incredibly moving; it's impact over the last 9 years has been made so clear by all the messages of support and desire for something to be done.
P.Franco has been more than just a wine bar. It's been an international meeting place for wine makers, drinkers and lovers since 2014. Over time it evolved into a space not just to drink. With a list of some of the best chefs cooking here, it's been a place of exploration and discovery for the city's food scene. It has been, in my opinion, a creatively vital platform and I hope to keep it this way.
It’s important to me that the ideals and values of P.Franco are continued, and that a reincarnation of the business is welcomed by two of it's most influential employees. I reached out to William Gleave and Phil Bracey, who first established P.Franco’s resident chef and service approach in 2015; they’ve given their love and support to move forward, passing on their pleasure that the bar will have a chance to continue into its next iteration — one they hope harnesses everything they created, as well as seeing it evolve under my ownership, both locally and abroad.
What will the support go towards
After the closure, our space was left almost entirely empty so buying equipment and stocking the shelves will be a priority. Money will also go towards business set up fees and administration costs. There are also a few maintenance jobs that need doing that will be looked at if the targets are reached, but the priority is getting everyone back around the table.
- New Equipment
- Re-stocking
- Set up Fees
- Rent
- Maintenance Work
I welcome anyone to get in touch and speak about my plans to re-open; happy to discuss in more detail over the phone.
