A Reason to Rally: Table Tennis at Owen Road Field

We’d like to bring table tennis to Owen Road Field—an easy, all-ages way to stay active, meet neighbours, and enjoy the outdoors. 🏓

Who are we? 🏓

We’re your neighbours—residents of Kingsley Close and Owen Road in Newbury—working together with Shaw cum Donnington Parish Council to make our local field a better place for everyone.

Over the past few years, we’ve already made big strides: levelling the field, adding a toy library, and creating a more welcoming space for kids, families, and older residents alike. This table tennis project is the next exciting step—and we’d love your help to make it happen!

Why are we crowdfunding? 🏓

We’d love to install a permanent outdoor table tennis table at Owen Road Field, complete with a secure base, rubber matting for safe play, and shared bats and balls. It’s a fun, simple, and inclusive way to get people of all ages moving, playing, and connecting—right on their doorstep.

Whether it’s teens after school, grandparents with visiting grandchildren, or neighbours looking for a quick rally on a sunny afternoon, this table will bring people together.

Even better—Sport England have offered to match half our funding if we can raise the rest. That means every donation you make will go twice as far in helping us bring this to life!

This project has grown from real community voices and needs, and it’s all about wellbeing, connection, and making our shared green space more vibrant and welcoming.

How we’ll spend the money raised 🏓

Every penny you donate will go straight into making this project a reality:

• Outdoor table tennis table – tough, weatherproof, and made to last

• Safe sub-base and rubber matting – so everyone can play with confidence

• Bats and balls – shared and easily available for spontaneous fun

Every donation, big or small, helps us create a lasting, low-maintenance space that everyone in the community can enjoy.
