We're taking 2 new one man shows to the biggest arts festival on the planet - the Edinburgh Fringe - and we need your help to get us there!
THE SHOWS
Thirst is written and performed by actor, musician and playwright Callum Patrick Hughes. An autobiographical journey into Callum's history of alcohol addiction, Thirst is both a love letter to sobriety and a celebration of the pubs that shaped him. Featuring original songs and stories both heartwarming and hilarious, Thirst premiered at The Pen Theatre in 2022 before embarking on a UK tour and Vault Festival run in early 2023. This marks Callum's Edinburgh Fringe debut.
THIRST PLAYS AT THE PLEASANCE COURTYARD BUNKER 3, 2nd - 28th AUGUST
Raising Kane is written and performed by Fake Escape artistic director David Shopland, returning to the front of the stage after more than a decade behind the scenes to portray one of the most iconic figures in cinematic history - Orson Welles. Blending verbatim transcripts from Welles' thousands of interviews with original material, Raising Kane intertwines the life and story of cinema's most controversial Auteur with Shopland's own history and connection to the man himself; until it becomes increasingly difficult to tell the two a part. Told exclusively in black and white, this marks the World Premiere of Raising Kane.
RAISING KANE PLAYS AT ASSEMBLY GEORGE SQUARE STUDIO 4, 3rd - 28th AUGUST
THE PEOPLE
Callum and David have known each other for 15 years, having met at Rose Bruford drama school in South East London. Forming a partnership within the first few months of their time at Rose Bruford, the last decade and a half has seen them form theatre companies, write dozens of plays and musicals together, and even spend 4 months in Beijing creating a brand new show for the National Theatre of China! Going to the Edinburgh Fringe has been a dream of both Callum and David's for as long as they can remember, and the opportunity to immerse themselves in the 'Disneyland for Theatre Geeks' whilst working hard on ensuring future life for their productions, is something truly invaluable.

CAN YOU HELP US?
As most people may know, putting a show on at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is a costly endeavour. We've been lucky to have raised some funding through previous productions of Thirst and ticket sales from other projects in order to cover some of our costs. But this year in particular has seen an unprecedented rise in the cost of accommodation at the festival, which is why we're starting this CrowdFunder to help cover the £3000+ needed for our 2 bedroom flat in Edinburgh for the duration of the festival.
Anything you can donate, little or large, will get us that step closer to achieving our collective dream of nearly 2 decades!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
