Raising funds for Cancer charity NET Foundation and community interest company - Sports & Armed Forces Community Action Group.
It is almost four years since my Dad passed away due to Cancer in the last World Cup.
With this being the first World Cup since, I wanted to mark the passing and raise both funds and awareness for 2 things connected to my Dad.
Proceeds from the book will be going to both the NET Patient Foundation and the Sports And Armed Forces Community Action Group.
NET Patient Foundation is a UK wide charity with a purpose to provide local support and information to patients and families from diagnosis, enabling access to the best care and treatment, whilst stimulating Neuroendocrine Cancer research, increasing national awareness and influencing improvements in outcomes.
The Sports And Armed Forces Community Action Group (SAAFCAG) is a community interest company (not for profit) aimed at helping troops, veterans and sports players through various projects.
I have written a book on recollections of World Cup tournaments previous. Whilst my Dad and I did many things together in football, attend games, watch games on TV together, the World Cup (the game's biggest tournament) for some reason seemed to be a tournament, we rarely got around to watching together.
The book charts the reasons and stories why, recalls his last World Cup and even though, we'd somehow overlooked the world's biggest sporting competition together, I'd give anything to spend just one more World Cup together now.
The title 14:10 is named after the time he passed away, we know this through the stoppage of a carriage clock presented to him whilst he was in the military, stopped dead at 14:10, some say the signs of the passing of an angel. I'd like to think this was the case.
At the moment 14:10 - The First World Cup Four Years On is looking to be published digitally, which has no costs attached. However, it would be nice to present the notes in print form for people to have in their hand and hopefully raise extra funds for the two charities/CIC's mentioned.
Print costs are looking at £600, which I have not got spare and so any donations to help print the book and raise funds would be greatly appreciated indeed.
