A dip a day in September for Folkestone Rescue
Folkestone Rescue, a volunteer-run lifeguard and lifeboat charity, has served the beautiful Sunny Sands beach and Folkestone coastline for over a decade. Their mission - providing swift, dependable emergency assistance - is upheld by their dedicated lifeguards and lifeboat crew members. Staffed by a team of highly trained lifeguards and lifeboat crew members, Folkestone Rescue stands ever-ready to respond to crises, safeguarding our treasured coastal community.
They are now looking for support to replace their 17-year-old lifeboat storage container. Their trusty container, now showing signs of wear and tear, needs to retire. The new container will offer a crucial upgrade, providing a secure shelter for our lifeboat and ensuring our continued, effective response to emergencies.
As swimmers who benefit from the services of Folkestone Rescue Susan Mckenna and I are pledging to take a dip a day in September to help them raise the cash that they need. There are a couple of caveats to this. We won't swim if it's too rough, or if there has been a sewage discharge in the past 24 hours. But even on those days, whatever the weather, we pledge to get down to the beach. And on the days when we can swim - hopefully all of them - we will!
