Every year, the twinkling lights across Rye bring festive magic to our historic town, lifting spirits, attracting visitors, and creating joyful memories for families and friends. But those beautiful Christmas lights, we all love, don’t appear by magic.
They rely entirely on community support, local fundraising, and the generosity of people like you. Your donations will help cover the costs of:
🎄 Purchase and installation of new compliant warm-white Christmas lights and electrical plug points along The High Street, Lion Street, and Market Road - a sustainable setup designed to last for many years to come.
💡 Planning and assessing an expanded display for 2026 - This year’s fundraising will also support the creation of a professional installation plan and compliance review to safely extend the lights into new areas of the town, such as Cinque Ports Street and The Strand next year.
🛠️ Safe, professional installation and removal - Carried out by an experienced contractor to ensure a safe and joyful experience for everyone.
💛 Every contribution, large or small, brings us closer to lighting up Rye this Christmas.
All funds raised here will be transferred in full to Rye Town Council, who will pay the supplier for the lights and services. This arrangement has been agreed between the Rye Christmas Lights Team, Rye Town Council, and local business Merchant & Mills, who are managing this Crowdfunder to make giving simple, secure, and transparent.
