To deliver a life changing environmental message to the Edinburgh Fringe and bring a real Amazonian Indian to Edinburgh for the first time

by Pump House CYT in Watford, England, United Kingdom

Award winning (current British all Winners drama festival winners) drama group Pump House CYT are presenting a world premiere, high quality, multimedia production that can deliver a life changing environmental message. Using art is an accessible way to deliver important environmental messages, with young people at its core, mentored by an internationally renowned green campaigner and involvement of indigenous Indian this project is well positioned to change the lives of all that it touches.

Pump House CYT, Plan-it Eco, Warner Bros, Verde Business Solutions and Sani Lodge have formed a partnership to write and develop an original production regarding the plight of the indigenous Indians in the middle of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest and how they cope with pollution, deforestation from the oil industry and illegal loggers.

Just a few years ago the Indians did not have a word for pollution or cancer but due to the pollution of the Napo River from illegal logging and oil exploration, things have changed.

Rainforest Dreams is an innovative multimedia production that looks at the devastation from their perspective and what they have to live with on a day to day basis. It delivers the message in a directly accessible way, highlighting that if much more of the rainforest disappears or continues to be polluted it will directly affect us all.

This production instils a positive message that with action we can all help stop the devastation.  It shows we are all global citizens and we can as individuals help and support the indigenous Indians to ensure that all of our future is secured.8f95a77284926d13b5ac1dbcbe0b2ebcd3345a26

Last March a family including two members of Pump House CYT went to the rainforest to stay with the indigenous Indians. During their visit they filmed rare footage which is being used in this production. showing the films on large screens creates a realistic backdrop for the actors on stage. However the family felt that the best way for the audience to truly understand the seriousness of the situation would be to hear from the indigenous Indians themselves.  So the family have raised the funds from Warner Bros to bring Javier, a Kichwa Indian from the Ecuadorian Amazon, Edinburgh Fringe 2018.

What makes this production so remarkable is the fact we are bringing one of the  Kichwa Indians to Edinburgh for the very first time.  His home is normally the Amazon and this play will provide a rare opportunity for the cast and audiences to engage with someone from the other side of the world who lives so very differently from us in the West.  This production is truly unique.

We would like to raise £2000 to be able to support the production cost and help us deliver this important message to as many people as we can on the worldwide stage in Edinburgh.  We would love your support and will send you an exclusive diary of Javier's visit and a first hand account of his first experience of coming to the Edinburgh and being outside the Rainforest.
