Aim

New working kitchen for our members and their families. It means our wheelchair users can get in to the kitchen instead of main hub tables.

Myself and Rainbow Stars would like to say a very big thank you to all who have supported our charity so far. The Kitchen will give our members and their families and community a chance to learn life skills and do events for our wider community. A very big thank you.

My name is Ann-Marie Watson I am a volunteer fundraiser for Rainbow Stars disability Hub in Sleaford Lincolnshire. I started with Rainbow Stars just over 2 years ago because of my daughter Zara who has a very rare life limiting disease and lots of other complex health needs. I also look after my Nephew who has Downs syndrome and a very rare Crommosone adnormality and has Autism and awaiting an ADHD diagnosis. I also have an other family member who has vascular Dementia and other health issues. So my home life and Rainbow Stars family life is very busy. We have over 15 volunteers and a chef every single one gives up their free time to support others they all have their own children and adults with Autism or additional needs we also have 6 Trustees again give their time to support our members their families and our wider community we are all one big family.

We have over 2,000 members and their families with Autism and ADHD and ADD. We have lifelimiting diseases and have cerabal palsy and mental health issues and homeless people we also deal with people with domestic abuse, LBGT and recently refugees. We are looking to do a Rainbow Stars life skills Kitchen project our aim is to teach members and their families cooking healthy nutritional meals on a budget we also need wheelchair users space at present they have to prepare food in the main hub because they cannot fit into our kitchen in its present condition after we should easily be able to fit in 15 at a time just now it 4  people. It will give us floor space and work tops for our members we also plan to show them how to work a washing machine and ironing safely. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
