Aim

We are raising funds to create a documentary on the RAF history of Hemswell in Lincolnshire, UK.

Preserving History

We are working closely with the charity BECG to conserve the history of the British film industry. Through this connection, we have discovered a lost history within the Royal Air Force. One that we wish to document as a reminder for all those whom lost their lives in the Second World War (who were stationed at RAF Hemswell). 1677701159_memorial_list.png1677701179_memorial_list_2.png

Research

Through our research, we have been gathering information on the building and its history. Not only will this documentary archive the renovation process of the Broadcast Engineering Museum, but it shall keep the history of the building alive.

The Building

The Museum

The museum is located on the site of the former RAF Hemswell airfield, which was a key base during World War II and the Cold War. The museum shall house an impressive collection of artefacts and exhibits that bring the history of the site to life, from its early days as a bomber station to its new role as a Broadcast Engineering Museum.

This documentary will explore the history 1677703824_the_queens_camera.jpgof the Hemswell airfield, from its establishment to its closure in the 1970s. The film will take viewers on a journey through the site, showing them the different buildings and structures that were used by the RAF during its time at Hemswell. We will hear from experts and former RAF personnel who will share their experiences and memories of the base, and how it contributed to the war effort.

One of the key focuses of the documentary will be the role that broadcasting equipment played in the history of the UK. Whereby the site after the war, was used by the BBC and other broadcasters as a centre for transmitting television and radio signals across the country. We will explore how this technology was developed and the impact it had on society.

The film will also examine the challenges that the museum has faced in preserving the site and its history. We will hear from the staff and volunteers who have worked hard to maintain the museum and ensure that the site will be accessible to visitors.

Ultimately, this documentary will be a celebration of the Hemswell Broadcast Museum and the important role that it has played in the history of broadcasting and the RAF. Through its unique collection of artefacts and exhibits, the museum will provide a window into a fascinating period of British history, and a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served at Hemswell and other RAF bases during World War II and the Cold War.

Storyline

The basic storyline of the documentary will follow the history of RAF Hemswell. It will cover the airfield's key role as a bomber station during World War II, its significance in the development of broadcasting in the UK, and its contribution to the UK's defence strategy during the Cold War.
