Aim: To raise money to kick off the Radical Mentors Programme Pilot and increase our impact by supporting more people to meet their career goals.

About Radical Recruit

Founded by Emma and Jude (Em's mum) in October 2019, the Radical team has placed over 600 people - we call them our 'Radicals - who are furthest from the labour market, into good jobs, that offer fair pay in exchange for meaningful work.

Our Fundraising Goals

We're calling upon the Radical village to help us continue the work we do - To raise money to kick off the Radical Mentors Programme Pilot and increase our impact by supporting more people to meet their career goals.

The People We Support

Radical participants are people who are furthest from the labour market, with barriers to work by way of adverse life experiences, such as:

  • Having had contact with the criminal justice system
  • Being care-experienced
  • Being a care giver
  • Having experienced domestic violence or abuse
  • Being an armed forces veteran
  • Being in recovery for any kind of addiction
  • Having experience of homelessness or are currently homeless
  • Having refugee status
  • Having been a victim of modern-day slavery
  • Being long-term unemployed (12 months or more)
  • Being sole parent to children under 18 years

They may also:

  • Belong to a global majority group
  • Be a member of the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Be aged between 18 and 30 years or over 50 years
  • Have a disability (including being neurodivergent)
  • Have English as second language

Our Mission and Model

We're on a mission to make the charity and its team redundant by teaching our Radical participants how to "fish".

We believe in the importance of supporting people to acquire the skills, confidence, tools and courage they need to apply for and secure good jobs on merit.

We spend significant time helping our Radical participants to apply for jobs that would make good use of their many talents, that offer fair pay (London Living wage or above) in exchange for meaningful work, that offer career progression opportunities, and workplaces where they feel like they belong and are included.

Every person is different but our pre-employment support usually includes:

  • Career coaching
  • CV writing
  • Disclosure support for Radicals with a disability or criminal convictions
  • Interview technique and mock interviews

Once a candidate is placed into work, we support them to start well and sustain their placements. We have maintained an in-work sustainability rate of over 92% at six-months since our incorporation.

We also support people in crisis and often provide small grants to cover the cost of gas end electric meter top ups, grocery shops and travel costs, as well as material aid like socks, winter coats and shoes.
