ABOUT RADICAL - We're a small but mighty social recruitment consultancy that unapologetically challenges the status quo.
Founded by Emma and Jude (Em's mum) in October 2019, the Radical team has placed over 600 people - we call them our 'Radicals - who are furthest from the labour market, into good jobs, that offer fair pay in exchange for meaningful work.
ABOUT OUR RADICALS - We support people who don't fit the popular mold.
Our Radicals are people who are furthest from the labour market because they have experienced/are experiencing adversity such as homelessness, domestic violence, addiction, contact with the care or criminal justice service and modern day slavery. They also tend to be members of protected classes such as the Global Majority/BAME, disabled and LGBTQIA+ communities.
OUR MISSION AND MODEL - We're on a mission to make the charity and its team redundant by teaching our Radicals how to "fish".
We believe in the importance of supporting our Radicals to acquire the skills, confidence, tools and courage they need to apply for and secure good jobs on merit.
We spend significant time helping our Radicals to apply for jobs that would make good use of each Radical's many talents, that offer fair pay (London Living wage or above) in exchange for meaningful work, that offer career progression opportunities, and workplaces where they feel like they belong and are included.
Every Radical is different but our pre-employment support usually includes:
- Career coaching
- CV writing
- Disclosure support for Radicals with a disability or criminal convictions
- Interview technique and mock interviews
Once a Radical is placed into work, we support them to start well and sustain their placements. We have maintained an in-work sustainability rate of over 92% at six-months since our incorporation.
We also support Radicals in crisis and often provide small grants to cover the cost of gas end electric meter top ups, grocery shops and travel costs, as well as material aid like socks, winter coats and shoes.
OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL
We're calling upon the Radical village to help us continue the work we do - over this Christmas and beyond - by supporting our plight to raise £50,000 to give us a much needed head start in 2024, as well as provide emergency support to some of our candidates over the Christmas period and colder months.
REWARDS FOR DONATIONS - We believe in a mutual exchange at Radical so do check out the sponsored rewards on our page and claim yours when donating.
In exchange for your generosity, we have a whole heap of Radical Rewards that we'd like to offer as a huge THANK YOU, including DJs and inspirational public speakers for your future events, upskilling and workshop opportunities for your teams, access to online webinars, 2024 Radical Conference tickets - and more!
Reward Conditions: Due to logistics, all in-person workshops and events (including DJ and public speaking bookings) are available within London only, with online events being hosted during UK working hours. Fulfilment dates are for administration purposes only and 2024 events and workshops can be booked directly with the vendor.
SOME RADICAL SUCCESS STORIES
Meet Jacira. She was unemployed for 10 years. She also has a disability. A couple of months after registering with Radical, Jacira had acquired the skills, confidence and courage to apply for a secure a good job. She's been promoted once since she started at KLH Sustainability, one of Radical's awesome partners.
Meet Kaidon. Kaidon had been released from prison shortly before we met him. With so many natural talents and transferable skills, the biggest challenge for our young radical would be to find an employer who could see past the 'ex-offender' label. Within a matter of weeks, Kaidon had secured an Digital Marketing Account Manager role with our partner, Quick Fox Labs.
Meet Alisha. Alisha was homeless when we met her. Our founder Em saw so much potential in her that when she found out Alisha had interviewed for job in the NHS ( and was about to be offered!), she couldn't resist and offered her a job at Radical instead. Four years on and she's been promoted twice! Hear Alisha talk about youth homelessness here.
Meet Malcolm. He was homeless for 10 years and sleeping on the street when we met him. After six weeks of intensive support, Malcolm secured a job at Honest Burgers and very quickly after, he was able to move into his own flat.
