I'm a retired IT trainer and administrator based in Coventry UK. I've been a creative most of my life, mostly in music, more recently in writing. But along the way I've also been a bit of an inventor too!
About 3 years ago my mind started collecting ideas for a better typing keyboard. This led to many hours of research, followed by hundreds of hours of development work using Excel and Flowstone (a schematic programming system) resulting in methodology to design a keyboard layout using principles that I know have never been used before.
The design now needs to be taken from the virtual world into the physical by having some prototypes made which typists - ranging from the 'hunt and peck' type to professionals - can learn and use to establish if the layout is the improvement that I believe it is. I have already made contact with a couple of local companies who could make these.
Ultimately, rather than setting up a production system myself, I would like to licence the design to established keyboard manufacturers. The design presented here is for English, so I would also like to licence the algorithms, principles and software for designers to use in devising layouts for other languages. This will need patenting all the ideas and designs - and you probably know how expensive that can be!
