Aim: Bring on 2021! Guy Oliver and Lindsey Mendick are opening a new artist space in Margate called Quench!
Quench will be a new project space and gallery in Margate, Kent, with the aim of giving artists and curators an opportunity to develop new work and put on exhibitions. This venture has been conceived because we both really love housing artists and really want to help them to create amazing shows. With so many cuts and job losses this year, we want to try and add a bit of optimism to the artistic outlook and try to keep artists invigorated and in work. Our main aim is to pay artists to put on small shows. We will not make any profit from the sale of artists work and all profits from any sales will go directly to the artists that put on the shows. We are very aware this is not a feasible business venture or model and my dad is very mad, but we want to give back what we can and engage and support fellow artists in this time. We are also committed to representing a diverse range of artists from underrepresented communities and backgrounds.

Lindsey has created 20 ceramic works and 6 A3 Hungover slug watercolours, each piece individually created lovingly by her own hands. Furthermore, in collaboration, Lindsey and Guy have created individual lobster claw badges that some have said are utterly divine.
In addition to these works, we have created gorgeous tea towels in tomato and cheese flavour AND a double sided cheese and tomato blanket from Lindsey's new homeware company ‘Inferior Design’. Ok it’s not a company but it should be. AND FINALLY, we have some stunning tote bags, screen printed with Jakob Rowlinson's juicy logo.
All profits from this fundraiser will be going into running the space and paying artists. In order for the space to continue into the next year, each artist that we will be showing, we will be asking to create a line drawing screen print. At the end of the year these prints we will added into another crowdfunder to fund the next years run of artists!
This means so much to us and we really need all the help that we can get! If you can, please do share this crowdfunder; share with everyone and anyone that you know, especially your lovely friends in finance. We really do need all the support we can get to pay these artists properly and fairly for their time. Also like Tescos says, every little really bloody does help, so please donate no matter how small. This may sound like a weird thing to say, but your money will go into supporting creatives to continue in this difficult time and will enable them to make something marvellous. In my opinion, this sounds like a far more spectacular way of spending the money we’ve all saved from not buying rounds in pubs over Xmas! Oh god I miss pubs.
