The fundraiser to help with the production of Queen Nanny of the Maroons short concept film. As a Black person of Jamaican heritage I was informed of this woman by my elders. I believe that her story is an integral part of history especially Jamaican and British history. It's unfortunate that her story often gets left out. Queen Nanny was a powerful, spiritual leader of the Windward Maroons in Jamaica. Her style of battle was innovative and clever to which the British army struggled to defeat.
I want to tell her story in an action concept short film in hopes to be able to gain interest from potential production companies who would want to create a full length feature film.
As this is a big project that would require all those involved, time and attention, I would only see fit to pay those people for their efforts on this.
We have seen the amazing success of The Woman King and I believe that has been a huge stepping stone for other stories of heroines like Queen Nanny to come up and be told.
