Quay Arts is an essential part of the Isle of Wight community. Operating out of a converted Grade II Heritage-listed building, the charity has offered enriching creative experiences through its programme and facilities for almost five decades.

Quay Arts is a vibrant cultural hub for our island and a cherished part of Newport's history. Situated at the head of the River Medina, our centre occupies a beautifully restored 19th-century brewery warehouse, a building rich in heritage and creative activity.

Urgency of Restoration

As we look to the future, we face a critical challenge. To sustain our operations and keep the Quay Arts Centre open and thriving, we are in urgent need of some restoration work which amounts to over £90,000. Maintaining and restoring this historic Grade II listed building is not only essential to preserve its historical significance but also to ensure that it remains a safe, welcoming, and operational space.

Why We Need Support

Restoration isn’t just about bricks and mortar - it’s about safeguarding a place that holds incredible value for our community, our visitors, and future generations.

Call to Action

We are asking for your support. Whether through raising awareness, contributing financially, or simply spreading the word, your help will ensure that this vital restoration can take place, allowing us to preserve the building’s history while continuing to grow and offer creative opportunities to all.

Quay Arts is a beloved part of our island’s cultural fabric, and with your support, we can keep this unique space alive for years to come.

A Phased Approach

Phase 1 - £15,000

Phase one of this essential work focuses on repointing the wall that faces the River Medina. The building, now 150 years old, requires restoration. Though not neglected, it has been affected over time by natural elements, particularly its location near a tidal estuary, and external factors damaging the brick mortar. Restoration involves specialist tradespeople to ensure that materials used are sympathetic to the building’s historic character, integrity and original construction methods.

Without these repairs, the damage could worsen, potentially forcing us to close our doors.

Thank you for being a part of this journey and for helping us sustain a place where history, creativity, and community come together.
