Active for All: Weight-Bearing Horse Initiative

Aim

Our project aims to secure us a larger, weight-bearing horse to offer RDA riding sessions and horse activities to more of the community.

Who are we?

Led by its incredible team of over 200 volunteers, the Cavalier Centre is a fully accessible state of the art RDA equestrian facility located just outside Much Wenlock, in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The centre offers inclusive horse-based activities such as riding, carriage driving, vaulting (gymnastics on horseback), hippotherapy (physio on horseback) and horse care, all supported by volunteers and team members. It also has a range of other programmes and activities that help people develop life skills, emotional intelligence and wellbeing.

Horses are a powerful way of inspiring young people to make valuable connections, engage with others and improve their wellbeing.  

Why are we crowdfunding?

In order to provide further riding sessions, horse care and wellbeing sessions to the disabled community throughout Shropshire and beyond, we are in need of a larger, weight-bearing horse to be our champion for adult RDA riders. 

With your help, we can source the perfect horse to join us and be a part of the superb team of horses we have here at The Cavalier Centre. Offering further opportunities for RDA riding and wellbeing activities. 

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will be spent on sourcing and purchasing the ideal weight-bearing RDA horse. The horse will be kept here at our state-of-the-art riding facility and will be well loved and cared for by our wonderful team of staff and volunteers.

Community impact

The Cavalier Centre is a specialist RDA (Riding for the disabled) equestrian facility. We provide riding experiences, along with horse care sessions, wellbeing sessions and much more, for the disabled community throughout Shropshire and beyond. In order to support the RDA work that we do, The Cavalier Centre also helps the wider community by hosting various events with nationally acclaimed equestrians. We also offer arena hire, standard riding lessons, specialist clinics and so much more. 

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
