Aim

To deliver £66,000 of new ECB-approved nets and then we will continue onto disabled access and more, building cricket for all in Thetford

Who are we?

We’re Thetford Town Cricket Club, home to a growing family of players, from our Dynamos kids to our women’s and men’s teams, all united by one dream: to build a lasting future for cricket in Thetford.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Through Project 100, our aim is to create a fully inclusive, modern, and accessible community sports environment that enables more people in Thetford to become active, stay active and feel part of a supportive community. This project is designed to address clear participation barriers, respond to rising demand and ensure that physical activity is available to everyone, regardless of age, gender, ability, mobility, confidence, or background. As a volunteer led club deeply embedded in Thetford, we support hundreds of residents each year through affordable, community-based sport. We see firsthand how cricket helps young people build confidence, gives adults valuable social connection and provides families with a safe, positive environment. However, our ability to deliver these benefits is limited by facilities, restricted training capacity and significant accessibility challenges that prevent many residents from taking part.

By delivering this project, we want to achieve three core outcomes.

1. Increased participation across Thetford’s diverse community

The installation of new ECB approved training nets will allow us to safely accommodate more teams, more sessions, and more new participants. Demand from youth cricket, women and girls and beginner players continues to rise, yet our current facility restricts growth. With modern and safe training spaces, we can run more entry level sessions, expand coaching programmes, and provide tailored opportunities for groups who are currently underrepresented or inactive. This will help more residents start their physical activity journey and give them a clear, positive pathway into sport. Our ladies’ team is growing year by year.

2. A fully inclusive and accessible facility where everyone can participate with confidence

This project goes far beyond replacing the nets. We will introduce new disabled parking, level access across the patio and fully accessible seating areas. These improvements are essential for disabled residents, older adults, parents with pushchairs and anyone who struggles to move safely around the site. Accessibility has been a longstanding barrier, and this project finally allows us to remove it. By creating a space where everyone can watch, play, volunteer and socialise, we will significantly expand who can take part and how long they can remain active. The facility will feel welcoming, easy to navigate and genuinely inclusive, supporting people who have previously felt excluded from sport.

3. Long term physical activity habits supported by a welcoming, social, community owned environment

People stay active when they feel connected. A modern and attractive facility will help people remain engaged beyond their first introduction to cricket. The accessible patio and seating will create a warm and social environment where families can attend together, carers can stay and feel involved, and older adults can spend time comfortably and confidently. These social elements encourage motivation, belonging and commitment. They help turn occasional activity into long term participation.

The improvements will also strengthen our partnerships with schools, youth groups, and wider community programmes. With greater capacity and a fully accessible site, we can offer more outreach sessions, run targeted programmes, and welcome groups who have previously struggled to access sport.

Ultimately, Project 100 will create a resilient community owned sporting space that inspires pride, increases activity levels, reduces inequalities, and provides Thetford with a facility that genuinely meets its current and future needs. Every resident who wants to play, watch, volunteer or connect will have a place where they feel welcome and able to stay active for years to come.

Together, we can make Project 100 a reality

Community impact

At Thetford Town Cricket Club, cricket is only part of the story. Our ground is more than just a place to play — it’s a place where people come together.

We’re proud to be a true community hub, welcoming players, families, and supporters of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Whether it’s a Friday night training session buzzing with young Dynamos, parents cheering from the boundary, or our growing women’s side breaking new ground for local sport there’s a real sense of belonging here that goes far beyond the game itself.

Our facilities are open to more than just cricketers. We regularly host community events, family fun days, and fundraising activities that bring Thetford residents together in positive, healthy, and social ways. The clubhouse serves as a gathering space not just for matches, but for celebrations, charity events, and school collaborations that strengthen local connections.

By improving our facilities through Project 100, we’ll be creating opportunities for even more people to get involved from children discovering sport for the first time, to adults finding friendship and fitness, to supporters who simply love being part of something local and uplifting .

Better inclusive facilities will help develop skills and confidence. More seating will make our ground a welcoming space for families and older supporters. And together, these upgrades will ensure Thetford Town Cricket Club continues to be a place that unites people, supports wellbeing, and inspires pride in our community for years to come
