Where does your city exist?
The streets are bright. The noise is constant. People move around you in every direction. Yet there are days when the city feels strangely empty — when something sits quietly inside you, difficult to name and even harder to say out loud.
That feeling is where Unanchored City began.
We are five curators and thirteen emerging artists, many of us just starting out.
Most of us have left a place behind at some point — a country, a city, a home, or somewhere we once thought we belonged.
We wanted to turn this private feeling into something shared. An exhibition where people can gather around memory, movement, longing and the fragile search for
belonging. A space where the invisible cities we carry inside us can become visible, even for a moment.
Inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, the exhibition asks what remains in us after we leave a place. The traces of home. The languages we learn to survive. The futures we keep imagining. The tiredness of starting again. The feeling of never fully arriving.
Through installation, painting, moving image, sound and performance, Unanchored City invites visitors to walk through these fragments and find their own city within them.
This project is our attempt to build a temporary home for those feelings. A space where the loneliness and unease we carry can be seen, shared and allowed to rest for a moment.

Unanchored City was selected through Copeland Gallery’s Emerging Artist Exhibitions programme, which supports early-career artists and collectives to realise ambitious exhibitions.
We will be presenting the exhibition at Copeland Gallery in Peckham from 6–9 August 2026. The exhibition will be free to attend, allowing a wider public to experience the work and join the conversation.
Copeland Gallery offers us a rare opportunity to create a large-scale independent exhibition in London at an early stage in our careers. Its support for emerging creatives and local communities makes it a meaningful home for a project built around movement, memory and belonging.
Peckham also feels deeply connected to the spirit of Unanchored City. It is one of London’s most culturally diverse neighbourhoods — a place shaped by migration, layered histories, local communities and constantly changing urban life. To present this exhibition here means placing our questions about home, distance and belonging within a neighbourhood where those questions are already alive in everyday experience.
Who we are
We are DoMo Collective, a newly formed group of London-based Korean curators and creative producers:

Our name comes from the Korean word domohada — “to devise” or “to bring something into being together.”
This is our first exhibition as a collective. We are working with emerging artists to create a generous, thoughtful and accessible exhibition about memory, movement and the cities we carry within us.
We are not a large institution. We are a small independent team building this project through shared labour, care, resourcefulness and belief in the artists we are working with.
Why we need your support
Our total budget is £3,850.
This covers:
- Venue hire, deposit and VAT
- Production and installation materials
- Logistics
- Design and marketing
- Public programme costs
- Day-to-day exhibition operation
- Contingency for unexpected costs
We have already committed our own seed funding, alongside in-kind support and ongoing sponsorship conversations. However, we still need to raise £2,500 to cover the remaining gap.
Your contribution will go directly towards making the exhibition possible.
Every pledge, no matter the size, helps us reduce financial pressure on the artists and curatorial team.
Beyond the exhibition
Alongside the exhibition, we are developing two public programmes.
1. Listening to the Unanchored City
A participatory sound walking workshop through Peckham, exploring the neighbourhood through listening, intuition and sensory attention rather than maps. Participants will be invited to move through the local area, collect impressions, and create personal responses through sound, drawing and mapping.
2. As You Wish
A short site-responsive performance staged within the exhibition, using the familiar setting of a job interview to explore urban life, expectation, absurdity and the pressure to perform identity. It depicts the process of anxiety being transferred from the system to the individual.
3. Coordinates of Ghost
A collaborative performance by visual artist Joonhong Min and choreographer Donna Kim, transforming discarded city materials, voice and movement into a poetic reflection on loneliness, memory, freedom and unseen lives within the modern city.
Together, these programmes extend the exhibition beyond display and create opportunities for visitors to participate, reflect and connect.
Rewards
As a thank you for supporting Unanchored City, we are offering a series of rewards.
£5–25 — Pay What You Can Supporter
For anyone who would like to support the project at any level.
You will receive a thank-you message from the team and digital exhibition material after the show.
£50 — Curatorial Text Clinic: one short text up to 500 words
For artists, students or creative practitioners who need support with writing about their work.
We will review and give feedback on one short text, such as an artist statement, work description, exhibition text or project introduction. This can include comments on clarity, structure, tone and how to make the writing stronger for applications, portfolios or public presentation
£100 — Event Support Staff
For artists, small organisations or independent teams who need an extra pair of hands during an exhibition, workshop, pop-up event or public programme.
We can support basic event operation, including invigilation, welcoming visitors, checking guest lists or tickets, guiding audience flow, assisting with light set-up and pack-down, and supporting general front-of-house communication on the day.
This reward covers up to 3 hours of on-site support in London, subject to availability. It does not include technical installation, heavy lifting, security, full event management or project planning.
£150 — Visual Rendering Package: two simple mock-up images
For artists, curators or small creative teams who need simple visual material to communicate an idea.
We will create two visual renderings or mock-up images for an exhibition, installation, event layout or project proposal, based on the images, references or floor plan you provide.
This can be useful for funding applications, venue proposals, presentations or early-stage project development.
£200 — Artist Bio & Work Documentation Package
For artists who need help presenting themselves and their work clearly.
We will support you with a short artist bio, one work description, and a basic documentation plan for how to present your work through images, text and project material.
This reward is especially suitable for emerging artists preparing portfolios, open call applications, websites or exhibition submissions.
£250 — Proposal & Project Development Support
Feedback and practical support on developing arts and cultural projects, from early-stage research and concept development to proposals, partnerships, community engagement, fundraising, and production planning. Designed to help turn ideas into clear, achievable, and well-structured projects.
£300 — Spatial Curating Session
For artists, curators, collectives or small organisations planning an exhibition, pop-up, installation or event.
We will offer a spatial curating session to help you think through layout, visitor journey, atmosphere, artwork placement and how your concept can be translated into space.
You will receive one consultation session and follow-up notes with practical suggestions.
Limited Artist Editions and Artworks
We will also offer a small number of limited artist editions and original works by participating artists.
These may include prints, drawings, small-scale works and selected original pieces. Each artwork reward will be listed individually with the artist’s name, title, medium, size, year, price and edition details where relevant.
A portion of each artwork pledge supports the artist directly, with the remaining amount supporting the production of Unanchored City.
All rewards directly support the exhibition and the artists involved.
