Our Story

This community hub has been at the heart of village life for decades, bringing people together and creating memories across generations. It has provided facilities and support for some of Sutton Bonington’s most cherished events and activities, from the Village Show and Bonfire Night celebrations to the Playschemes where so many children have enjoyed a safe, fun, and educational start to their school holidays.

For many residents, this pavilion is more than just a building; it is a place filled with memories of community spirit, friendships, family events, sporting achievements, and time spent together.

As we look to preserve and improve this much loved space for future generations, we are asking for your support. If this community hub has been part of your story, and you have fond memories of times spent here, please consider giving what you can. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help us continue its legacy for years to come.

Why This Matters

Today, players change in outdated, cramped spaces. Community groups struggle to find suitable, accessible venues. Basic amenities such as heating, lighting, and kitchen facilities fall short of modern expectations. For many, especially those with accessibility needs, the building simply doesn’t work as it should.

At the same time, Sutton Bonington is evolving. With new developments like Lime Gardens bringing more residents into the village, the need for a welcoming, flexible, and inclusive community space has never been greater.

A Real Opportunity

Thanks to funding allocated through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) by Rushcliffe Borough Council, we now have a unique opportunity to invest in the future of our village. These funds are specifically intended to support improvements to local recreational facilities making the pavilion transformation both possible and timely.

The Parish Council has already taken important first steps. Architects have been engaged, plans have been drawn up, and planning approval was granted in late 2025. Works on the pavilion have already started in May 2026. The vision is clear, now we need to bring it to life.

Our Vision

We want to create a pavilion that works for everyone. A place that supports sport, welcomes community groups, and brings people together.

Our proposed improvements include:

  • Modern, larger changing facilities that meet current standards
  • A brand-new, fully equipped kitchen
  • A significantly expanded meeting room, doubling the current size
  • Accessible, inclusive facilities for all users
  • Improved heating, lighting, and overall comfort
  • A new outdoor patio area for social and community use

More Than Just a Building

This project is about more than bricks and mortar it’s about strengthening our community.

With improved facilities, the pavilion will:

  • Support the continued growth of local sports, including youth and girls’ teams
  • Provide a much-needed home for organisations.
  • Create a flexible venue for events, meetings, celebrations, and village activities
  • Better equipped for larger community events such as the Village Show, PTA bonfire, and Playschemes
  • Generate sustainable income through increased hire and usage

Building for the Future

The project will be funded through a combination of:

  • Strategic CIL funding from Rushcliffe Borough Council
  • A Public Works Loan
  • Grants from organisations
  • And support from our community, including this crowdfunding campaign

Every contribution will help us close the funding gap and ensure we deliver a pavilion that is fit for purpose not just for today, but for generations to come.
