To expand sporting opportunities in our rural school by introducing new sports, supporting inclusion and helping every child get active.

Why Are We Crowdfunding?
Holy Family P.S. Aughamullan PTA aims to increase participation in sport by bringing a wide range of high-quality sporting opportunities directly into our small rural school, ensuring every child can take part, regardless of their background, culture, ability or home circumstances.
For many families in our community, travelling to sports clubs is difficult. Busy family life, transport costs, and the lack of local clubs offering sports beyond GAA mean children often miss out on exploring activities such as camogie, basketball, netball, tennis, cricket and hockey. As a result, many pupils experience only a narrow range of sports during their primary years.
We want to change that by delivering sport in school, during familiar routines, so that fitness, wellbeing and confidence become part of every child’s day.
The ‘Get Active Aughamullan’ Project will:
- increase daily physical activity
- support mental and emotional wellbeing
- improve energy, focus and learning during the school day
- give rural children access to sports they would otherwise never experience
- support neurodiverse pupils through predictable routines, visual supports and inclusive delivery
Our aim is to offer children from P1–P7 the opportunity to develop skills, confidence and a love of being active, all within a safe and familiar environment that removes the barriers of travel, cost and accessibility.
To help us introduce a broader range of sports, we will also use iPads to deliver interactive sports workshops, demonstration videos, coaching apps and visual supports. This allows us to introduce new sports even when specialist coaches are not available locally — a major challenge in rural areas.
By crowdfunding, we can pay qualified coaches where needed, purchase multisport equipment, and invest in essential IT tools to ensure our programme is modern, engaging, inclusive and accessible for every child.

Beginning September 2026 – Approximately 27 Weeks (Sept 2026 – March 2027)
As children transition into a new school year, many experience changes in routine, classroom environments and expectations. To support all pupils, including neurodiverse learners, we will begin the programme with a 6-week wellbeing block. This will help children manage anxiety, settle into school life, and develop strategies for self-regulation, focus and emotional wellbeing.
Term 1A
- P1–P3: Foundation movement and multi-skills sessions, introducing core skills used across a range of sports
- P4–P5: Small-sided games and skill-building activities designed to promote inclusion, confidence and participation
- P6–P7: Teamwork and skill development sessions focusing on coordination, communication and positive engagement
These sessions help children develop physical literacy, build confidence, improve social interaction and strengthen engagement in physical activity.
Term 1B
- P1–P3: Multi-sport sessions delivered across two days each week, offering a broad introduction to games, movement skills and early sport fundamentals
- P4–P5: Coaching sessions providing experience in a range of sports, including team-based and stick/ball activities
- P6–P7: Multi-sport activities and small-sided games designed to encourage leadership, resilience and full participation
This term focuses on giving children a taste of different sports, supporting skill acquisition, and encouraging enjoyment through varied activities.
Term 2A
- P1–P3: Multi-sport sessions delivered twice weekly, exploring games and activities that support agility, balance, coordination and confidence
- P4–P5: Skill-development sessions across a range of sports, promoting progression and positive engagement
- P6–P7: Inclusive group activities that support physical development, strategic thinking and teamwork
We will also host an inter-school sports event to build community engagement and offer children the opportunity to take part in friendly competition.
Term 2B
- P1–P3: Multi-sports sessions delivered across two days each week, introducing seasonal activities and small-sided games
- P4–P5: Skill-building sessions that allow children to continue exploring a variety of sports in an age-appropriate, engaging format
- P6–P7: Multi-sport development sessions with opportunities to participate in friendly in-school or local tournaments
This term helps children consolidate their learning, gain confidence in new skills, and enjoy the experience of taking part in structured sport.

Why iPads Are Essential to This Project
To broaden the sporting opportunities we can offer in a rural setting, iPads will be used to:
- deliver interactive sports workshops
- provide skill demonstrations for sports where specialist coaches are not available
- support visual learning for neurodiverse children
- analyse movement and technique through video replay
- help children track their progress and celebrate achievements
- introduce new sports such as basketball, cricket, netball and tennis through high-quality digital content
This technology removes barriers caused by location and coach availability, ensuring every child can experience a wide and exciting variety of sports.

How We Will Spend the Money Raised
Crowdfunding support will allow us to expand our sports programme, fund coaches, purchase essential multi-sport equipment and invest in IT tools that will enhance coaching, participation and inclusion. The project will run across the school year in four blocks: 8 weeks in Term 1A, 7 weeks in Term 1B, 6 weeks in Term 2A and 6 weeks in Term 2B. Children in P1–P3 will take part from 2–3 pm and P4–P7 from 3–4 pm.
We do not want rural isolation or the cost of living crisis to prevent our children from accessing high-quality sport.

Why We Need Your Support
As a small rural school with big aspirations, our PTA is committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of background, culture or ability, can access a wide range of sporting opportunities within our school setting. Many families face barriers such as travel distance, transport costs and the limited range of sports available locally. These barriers mean children often miss out on discovering activities they may love.
With your support, our PTA will deliver an exciting multi-sport programme in school, introduce children to sports they may never have tried, and strengthen connections with local sporting clubs. We will also use IT, including iPads and digital coaching tools, to help us deliver interactive sports sessions, provide visual learning for neurodiverse pupils, and introduce new sports even when specialist coaches are not available in our rural area.
Your support will allow us to purchase new sports equipment, enhance delivery through modern IT tools, and provide the coaching and resources needed to make sport accessible, inclusive and engaging for all pupils.
By bringing sport directly into school, supported by technology and the right equipment, we can give every child the chance to explore activities, build skills, grow in confidence and enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of an active lifestyle. Together, we can create meaningful opportunities and inspire healthier, happier and more active futures for every child in our school community.
