Aim

Our aim is to give Wendy a fresh start—helping her rebuild her business online and continue the 30-year legacy of Clarkes Florist.

For over 30 years, Wendy has been the beating heart of Clarkes Florist; a beloved shop and family home. It has served the Furzedown community with care, warmth, and dedication.

After a long and exhausting legal battle with a new landlord, Wendy has been left with no choice but to leave the space she has called both home and business for three decades.

She’s not just losing a shop, but she’s losing her home, a lifetime of work!

Despite having rights as a sitting tenant, Wendy has spent the past 18 months fighting a system that favours those with deeper pockets.

The emotional and financial impact has been overwhelming, with mounting legal fees and uncertainty taking their toll (costs reaching as high as £20,000).

Now, instead of continuing a fight that could take even more from her, Wendy is making a brave decision: To rebuild!

We’re looking to raise £15,000 to help Wendy transition her business online and restart Clarke’s Florist again.

This campaign is about saving Clarkes Florist—not the building, but the brand and legacy.

With your support, Wendy can continue serving her community in a new way—by bringing her beautiful, traditional floristry into the digital world.

A Message from Wendy’s children (Kamilla and Jez)

We’ve grown up in that shop. It’s not just where our mum worked it’s where we were raised. We did homework behind the counter.

We’ve watched her comfort people picking flowers for funerals, and celebrate with those buying for special occasions.

That space holds our childhood and over the last year and a half; we’ve watched her fight, stress, sleepless nights and the weight of possibly losing everything she’s built. She kept going, even when it felt impossible. Not just for herself, but for the community she loves.

Walking away hasn’t been easy. It’s one of the hardest decisions she’s ever had to make. But what we know is this, She still has so much to give.

We’re not ready to let her story end here and we’re asking if you can to help us give her a new beginning.

How the £15,000 will be used:

We want to be completely transparent about where the money will go. This support isn’t just about helping Wendy move on—it’s about giving her a real chance to rebuild sustainably.

  • £10,000Relocation and housing transition. Helping Wendy move out of the flat above the shop and secure stable accommodation

Why this matters:

Clarkes Florist isn’t just a business. Wendy has given so much to others. It’s where conversations happened, where people felt seen, where community lived. Now she needs help to keep that spirit alive.
