Repair broken jetty for wheelchair users to enable them to continue sailing.
Here at Frensham Pond Sailing Club we provide sailing facilities for a very diverse community. We aim to be inclusive to all. Along with our Charity , Frensham Pond Sailability , there is a very successful disabled sailing group. This group require hoist access to their boats. The current jetty that provides access to these hoist points has unfortunately become unsafe and we need urgently to repair it.
At the end o
f this jetty is the platform that holds the hoist points to enable our wheelchair users to access their boats, without these our wheel chair users are restricted to the land. Sailing is very important for their mental & physical health and as such we need to get them back on the water as soon as possible.
Paul Phillips Testimonial- Muscular Dystrophy
The Jetty means I can sail. Importance of sailing is my sense of freedom.

I am so used to sailing I can't envisage not doing it and not having access to the jetty is slowly sending me mad. No jetty, no sailing.
Kim Davies Testimonial- Stroke Survivor , wheelchair user.
Sailing puts me on a level playing field with non- disabled people and when I'm sailing , I no longer feel disabled. I need the Jetty to allow me to do this. Once on the water I am independent, I ca
n sail where I want , when I want. Frensham Pond Sailing Club is my "Happy Place and Safe Place".
Helping other others gives me purpose and a chance to give back. I usually help disabled people sail, but without access to the hoists on Jetty 7 I am unable to do so.
