Andy Burnham - Make UK Pensions Fair

Aim

Our aim is to get Andy Burnham to realize that the UK old age pension is so low as to be an insult to pensioners - and increase it !

As a result of its history , the UK is still one of the richest countries on earth, with a GDP of £ 3 trillion .   Andy Burnham has talked about bringing back hope to every postcode if, as seems likely , he becomes Prime Minister . There are old age pensioners in every postcode , and they receive on average a pension of about £920 per month - which is about £300 less than the average pension in the EU. Many pensioners have to choose between heating and eating in the winter - which is an outrage and caused at least in part by the low pension . This dire situation means that pensioners die every winter from the cold - which is completely unacceptable for any country, let alone one of the richest on earth !

In our democracy it is the Government which decides the level of the State Pension , so we suggest that every pensioner should now write to their MP and ask them to ask Mr Burnham to bring the UK State pension up to the EU average, and to do that before winter this year. 

There are 13.2 million old age pensioners in the UK and it is clear that a campaign of this magnitude will need administration , and any money we raise will be used to increase public awareness and ensure that the voices of the 13.2 million pensioners are heard .
