Give the gift of Starlight and bring music to families with babies and toddlers at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
B'Opera are Regular Visiting Artists at Birmingham Children's Hospital, bringing music to wards where there are babies and young children every week. When staff started asking us to make recordings available to help settle little ones when they were in distress, we knew we had to make Starlight.
It's an album of original compositions, twinkling arrangements and familiar favourites - music that will bring beauty, comfort, joy and connection to babies and little ones - wherever they are.
We have poured all of our professional music training, Early Years education expertise, and our hearts into the writing, arrangements, musicianship, and we've been incredibly fortunate to have the support of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and their fabulous recording studios and sound engineer.
And now it's time to get it into the hands of the families who need it.
For a child in hospital and their family, music can create a moment of almost-normality in a scary, unfamiliar world. It can bring back the memory of a happy moment, a familiar voice, a song shared. It can ground them in the here and now and help them get through the day.
And beyond the hospital setting, Starlight is our chance to take the magic we see in our sessions beyond the room and out into homes everywhere.
We're inviting you to be part of what happens next.
Every £15 donated will help us get this album into the hands of a family in hospital who need a moment of music, connection and joy. Help us send Starlight out into the world.
And if you're in or near Birmingham, we'd love you to come and celebrate with us in person at the Festivals of Light concert and Starlight album launch:
Saturday 31 October · 10.30am–12.30pm
St George’s Church, Edgbaston, Birmingham
