West End Primary 150th Anniversary Projects

Aim

We hope to make many improvements to the outdoor areas including an all-weather pitch, updated play equipment, and more covered shelters.

Since all public schools are government funded, schools only have a small budget to work with.  Budgets continue to get tighter and tighter, but the needs of most schools continue to increase.  West End Primary is 150 years old this year, and it is still working with most of its original structure.  We would love to update the outside of the school yard some.  Based on what we raise, will be what all can be done this year with your help.

All of the students use our current pitch, but since it is grass, it has constant upkeep needed.  We would love to make it an all-weather pitch, so it can be used in wet and dry conditions.  Also, while our current play equipment is usable, it is not near enough for the 200+ students that use the equipment on a daily basis.  We would love to add more equipment so all children have a place to play.  

Additionally, there is very little covered shelter in the school yard.  We would be interested in building a few more shelters that have areas where parents can stand if it is raining during pickup/drop off or for sporting events held on the pitch.

Finally, the flower beds are in need of a lot of TLC.  We would love to get refurbish them for generations to come.

While our goals may seem lofty, they are things that we feel will benefit the WEP community as a whole (and hopefully you feel the same way).
