Aim

Uniting people to deliver essential winter supplies, medical aid, and transport directly to the Ukrainian communities hit hardest by the war

The International Solidarity Convoy to Ukraine - an international civil society and trade union mission of solidarity.

By the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027, the Ukrainian people will once again face, for the fifth time, the terrible prospect of another winter at war. Ukrainian civilians are currently defenceless against Russia's illegal ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones.

The Ukrainian people survive and resist

Despite everything, the Ukrainian people continue to resist, both on the front line and on the home front. They continue to defend their sovereignty and their democracy, while insisting that international law must be applied in practice, not only in principle.

Last winter, solidarity campaigns organised by European and international civil society organisations helped Ukraine endure. This year, even greater, better coordinated and more visible solidarity will be needed.

Global, European, UK and Scottish Solidarity Convoy

In November Ukraine supporters are organising a convoy starting from three starting points: Barcelona, Oslo and Edinburgh, meeting up and going thru' Germany and Poland to Ukraine together.

A Minibus for Ukraine's Teachers' Union Children's Summer Camp

Supported by Scottish trade union branches and progressive political party members, we are playing our part, by bringing a minibus to transport children to and from a children’s summer camp in a disused school outside Kyiv, that the one million member Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine (TUESWU) the biggest trade union in Ukraine, is developing. TUESWU is affiliated to the FPU, Ukraine's largest trade union federation.  Support for this project and other TUESWU projects is already underway from education unions globally, including  the National Education Union in England and Wales.  The camp has an emergency shelter to protect users against air strikes and shelling, and to ensure children can continue to learn in safety.

Support for the Convoy

The Convoy is supported by the FPU, with 3m members, Ukraine's largest trade union federation. Scottish elected representatives signed up so far include: Labour, Katy Clark MSP and Paul Sweeney MSP; SNP, Jenni Minto MSP, Seamus Logan MP, Paul McClennan MSP, Cllr Graham Campbell; Scottish Green Party, Ross Greer MSP co-leader, Kate Nevens MSP;  MEPs from across Europe.

Please note an important change in our crowdfunder

While fundraising commenced in line with the timescale for the International Convoy, work has been underway to identify a recipient in Ukraine who fits with the criteria for convoy participants.  It has become apparant that our initial target of supplying an ambulance to a civil society organisation providing humanitarean support in an area of real need (i.e. a front line area of Ukraine) was not achievable or realistic. These zones are now only accessible to the military due to the threat of drones, whose operators routinely destroy humanitarian vehicles.  However, the TUESWU needs transport for the residential Children's Centre.  A minibus that would really help is within our reach.  Any extra we raise will be used to stock the vehicle with powerbank generators and other much needed humanitarian aid. We will keep you updated on our plans.  We have therefore changed the Crowdfunder to reflect this new aim and purpose.

If any donor to date feels this change falls short of their own reasons for donation for a vehicle converted for ambulance duties, we quite understand, and would be willing to refund upon request.  Please get in touch if that is the case.  Otherwise we hope to continue fundraising to meet our target figure as described in the Aims section of the Crowdfunder."

Donate to the Convoy! Warning about Crowdfunder's tip requests.
