Aim

Row for Food unites our community to race dragon boats and raise funds for local people in crisis.

Who We Are

Bournemouth Foodbank supports local people facing hardship across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Every week, individuals and families in crisis turn to us for emergency food and practical support. Our work is made possible by an incredible network of staff, volunteers, supporters and partner organisations who are passionate about making sure nobody in our community goes hungry.

For Row for Food, our team is bringing together foodbank staff, volunteers and local supporters to take on a dragon boat racing challenge at Poole Park on 6th June 2026. It’s a fun, energetic community event with a serious purpose: raising vital funds to help provide emergency food parcels and after-care support for people who need it the most.

Our Vision

Our vision is a community where everyone has access to the essentials they need to live with dignity and hope. While we continue working towards long-term solutions to poverty and food insecurity, we know there are people right now who urgently need support. Whilst cupboard essentials are much needed, we also offer specialist face to face support so that people can better themselves and break out of the cycle of poverty.

Row for Food is about communities coming together to make a direct difference. Every paddle stroke represents teamwork, compassion and solidarity with local people experiencing difficult times. We want this event to raise awareness of food poverty locally, strengthen community support, and generate funds that will help us continue providing emergency food and practical help throughout the year.

How We Will Use the Money Raised

Every donation and sponsorship contribution will go directly towards helping Bournemouth Foodbank provide emergency support to local people in crisis.

Any fundraising we do as a charity, naturally helps us:

• Purchase essential food items to create emergency food parcels
• Keep shelves stocked with nutritious basics for families, children and individuals
• Respond to increasing demand for support across our local area
• Ensure people facing hardship can access help quickly and with dignity

But THIS Crowdfunder also gives individuals longer term support, through our money advice service. Your donation will ensure that we can continue to employ skilled workers who work with people side by side, around income maximisation, debt advice, budgeting, and employment.

At a time when many households are struggling with rising living costs, your support will help ensure that nobody in our community is left without food in an emergency and have someone to talk to, free from shame and stigma.
