‘Notes to Self’ is an original musical short film written and directed by Joe Street, with original songs by Charlie-Jo Simpson, and starring Elinor Hallett as Olivia.

It follows Olivia, a 21-year-old musician who feels like she’s getting nowhere. After a rough audition and a lot of pressure to “grow up,” she decides to pack it all in. In a moment of frustration, she bins everything. Her music, her guitar, and even her old childhood toy, Patches. But Patches has other ideas...
He climbs right back out of the bin, guiding Olivia through a surreal version of her own mind, where memories, dreams and insecurities all come to life. But can Patches succeed, or will Olivia lose her creative spark forever?

At its core, ‘Notes to Self’ is about self-doubt, creativity, and that nagging voice in your head that refuses to let you quit, a film that offers something for everyone.
‘Notes to Self’ has something for everyone, there’s humour and visual spectacle that younger viewers can enjoy, alongside jokes and themes that appeal more to adults and younger adults. It’s aimed at anyone who has felt stuck, unsure of themselves, or torn between doing something they love and doing what feels more “realistic.” It’s a truly unique project combining all forms of art into one, at a time where AI is beginning to sweep the creative industries we think it’s important to look at what makes art special, unique and human!
We are currently raising funds to bring the film to life, including filming, recording the music, and making the more surreal parts work on screen.
