To create a sustainable, comfortable living space where our special needs dogs and others like them can live their best lives ♥️
Dear Friends of the Roost,
We are forever grateful for your continued support over the last 25 years, we couldn’t do any of what we do without you, so thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! ♥️
We are embarking on an urgent new challenge, and truly hope you will assist us with this vital development to allow us to continue to provide a last chance forever home to special needs dogs who have been through some of the worst trauma imaginable. 😢
We currently provide a safe haven to 21 dogs, 14 of which are blind. 🐶
We desperately need to upgrade and relocate the dogs' old and run down living accommodation to be able to better meet their varied and complex needs in the way they deserve.
Our current portacabin and decking area where the dogs live is over 15 years old. It is leaking and the floor is rotten, creating an unsuitable and hazardous environment for dogs and humans alike. Despite many attempts at fixing the issues, it is simply no longer fit for purpose, and we just don’t have the resources to keep throwing good money after bad.
The recent additions of 3 younger dogs in desperate need (beautiful blind Pluto and Chewbacca, plus deformed Fagin) has also highlighted the need for more space and safe, custom play areas to keep them all happy and stimulated...these sweet souls with their boisterous natures are not content to simply laze about like some of the other older rescues.
So…We have come up with a plan, which will fix all of the above issues and provide a space which is sustainable for the future! It will allow us to give our dogs the best possible living environment tailored to their varied needs, as well as open up the possibility of helping other desperate souls in the future.
By converting and repurposing one of our existing structures, we will create a doggy safe haven, insulated and cosy on the inside, with outdoor covered decking for lounging, and an attached safe, sensory garden area for endless exploring and playing!
We know this is a big project, but it's one that is essential to ensure the future of our dogs and our sanctuary, and we have no doubt that if you, our wonderful community, comes together, we can absolutely do this!!
