To increase the facilities footprint so that more varied activities can be offered to our members and the wider community
Rushden & Higham Rugby Club is a family based club formed in 1950 by a group of individuals that wanted to promote the playing of Rugby Union in and around the area. Originally starting at the Green Dragon in Higham, then moving to John Whites on Bedford Road before finding a permanent home at Manor Park on Bedford Road in Rushden. We offer a full mini and junior section along with a girls and women’s sections. We also have a colts team (u18s) and 3 senior sides, with the 1st xv competing in level 8 of the RFU National Pyramid. We are proud to be an officially affiliated club of the Northampton Saints with training camps occasionally held at Manor Park or training at Northampton Saints for the allotted age grade sides. We also offer other community activities such as wellness clubs, non contact sports plus age appropriate sports.

We are crowdfunding as we need to raise money to increase the size of our facilities that are struggling to keep up with demand. As we use them for our wellness clubs in the week and also the growth of our rugby operation has made them struggle to give the amount of space that is needed to be an inclusive organisation. The addition of more space will make for more comfortable use of the club by our members and will mean we able to offer more opportunities that we would not need to use an outdoor marquee and large portacabin to facilitate, such groups as the walking rugby and girls rugby sections . This would encourage more people to join in and get active with all these groups as many find it uncomfortable and need the extra space to thrive.

The extra money raised will help in the building of an extension to the clubhouse to allow for more space for these sections to use. Also, the improvements of our facilities will make the experience of being active at the club much more appealing with the extra space being used for such groups as Pilates and many wellness groups that we currently have to turn down use to due to space constraints.
Toilet upgrades will be possible making it a much more inclusive experience also along with better disabled access, that a modern establishment really requires to operate in the wider community. On top of this we will be able to upgrade some of our changing facilities that we currently use making them a lot more accessible to our different groups.

The impact to the community would be huge as it would give a lot better, warmer space, for the wellness groups to operate and also allow the club to really become a true hub in the community, with the ability to hold Blood Clinics for all, along with the addition of pilates groups and other fitness groups or even dance classes; with the aim of increasing the clubs footprint in the community.
