All or nothing

This project needs 100% of its target

Aim

CCRPG’s Expansion Project 80A: more space for games, learning, AP, community hire and Summer Academy support.

Help us make more room for games, learning and community, & volunteering.

We are raising £2,250 to help Character Creation Roleplaying CIC to create more flexible space, and break down barriers to achievement and community engagement in the centre of Plymouth.

Quick Read:
This is an all-or-nothing Crowdfunder campaign - if we can make 100% or more of our target the money will go towards:

More space:

Another room will enable us to open our library free of charge more often so that the people of Plymouth have a space to meet without the expectation of spending money - social connection shouldn’t depend on your income! The room would also give us more flexibility, allowing us to run more than one type of activity at the same time. And give more opportunity for people to volunteer with us to host sessions, engage with the community, and take part in training.

AQA Unit Award Scheme:

Family finances shouldn’t be a barrier to educational attainment. Enrolling your child on a particular qualification course can be expensive. But as members of the AQA Unit Award Scheme we will be able to recognise achievement through the activities and projects the child already does with us, meaning the only cost beyond that to your family purse will be the initial cost of registering the child on the AQA Unit Award Scheme (up to £25.60) and the only cost to your time will be taking your child to the activity they already do!

Epson EcoTank printer:

We have always used second-hand printers before, but it has become unsustainable, both financially and environmentally to keep doing this. The old printers are slow and inefficient - we’d like to get this new printer to save time printing resources during sessions, and to make our activities and administration work more environmentally sustainable.

If you’d like more detail, please read on!

Where the money will go

Additional space at City Business Park — £1,398.62

A new room has become available, directly beside us, from 1st August, the Saturday before our first day of our Summer Academy.

This total covers:

  • £425 deposit

  • 6 months of rent at £162.27 per month

The room would give us more flexibility, allowing us to run more than one type of activity at the same time.

AQA Unit Award Scheme lifetime membership — £399.85

We have recently been accepted as an AQA centre.

This membership would allow us to formally recognise the achievements of the young people we work with, especially through Alternative Provision, project-based learning, and creative activities.

Epson EcoTank printer — £249.99

This would help us print learning resources, session materials, certificates, maps, worksheets, AQA evidence, activity sheets and Summer Academy resources.

Setup, fees and contingency — £201.54

This will help cover Crowdfunder fees, decorating, setup costs, moving resources, and any small unexpected expenses.

Why we need more space

At CCRPG, we have always tried to keep up with expanding need, rather than staying still.

Two years ago, having our space at City Business Park was a huge step forward. Since then, more young people, families, learners, groups and community members have started using CCRPG for games, learning, social connection, Alternative Provision, volunteering, and creative projects.

That is brilliant, but it means we need more flexibility.

At the moment, if we are running 1:1 Alternative Provision work, it can mean the library cannot be open to visitors. If the main room is being used, it limits our ability to open the space for free community use or hire it out to generate extra income to support our work.

The new room would help us do more at the same time.

It would mean we could:

  • run 1:1 Alternative Provision while keeping the library open for people to visit for free

  • offer more space for gaming

  • provide a private D&D and learning space

  • support this year’s Summer Academy and Fit & Fed spaces

  • hire space to the community

  • reduce competition for sound

  • support different groups without everything clashing

Our dream is to convert it into a recording space for Real Play podcasts, being hirable, generating an income to pay for itself, and offer more Educational Opportunities.

Why AQA matters

A lot of the work young people do with us is real learning.

They build confidence, communicate, solve problems, plan stories, use maths, write characters, research ideas, work in groups and complete creative projects.

The AQA Unit Award Scheme would let us turn that work into recognised achievement.

This is especially important for young people accessing Alternative Provision, where small steps of progress can matter a great deal.

It gives learners something clear to work towards and something real to show for what they have achieved.

Enrolling on a specific course can be too expensive for many local families - with the AQA Unit Award Scheme we can recognise achievement within an activity the family already pays for, helping to remove financial barriers to education that so many families in our city face.

Why the printer matters

The printer is a practical tool that would support almost everything we do.

It would help us produce resources for D&D sessions, board game activities, Alternative Provision, Summer Academy, Fit & Fed spaces, AQA evidence, certificates and project work.

It would also make printing cheaper, easier and quicker, so we can create what we need in-house rather than relying on outside printing. We have always had cheap second hand printers before. This is a chance to get a new modern printer that is better for our finances and more environmentally sustainable.

Summary

This crowdfunder is about helping CCRPG become more flexible, more sustainable and better equipped.

The extra space would allow us to support more people at the same time, just as this year’s Summer Academy begins. The AQA membership would help us recognise young people’s achievements. The printer would give us the practical resources to support that work properly.

Every pledge helps us create more room for games, more room for learning, more room for creativity and more room for the people who use our space.

Thank you for supporting Character Creation Roleplaying CIC.
