To fund the launch and printing of an independent publication for intersectional feminist art and writing.
About the project
The Rewilding journal is a new independent feminist publication that publishes work by artists and academics who challenge the patriarchal status quo by pushing boundaries, questioning normalised attitudes and behaviours, and introducing alternative narratives - particularly in relation to the female body and notions of womanhood and the feminine. The contributions featured in the Rewilding journal are invitations to think about how we perceive and engage with ourselves, each other, and the world and to unlearn attitudes and behaviours that we have been conditioned to think are normal.
The aim is to make feminist critique accessible to a wider audience and to create a platform for artists, writers, and academics to show work that explores the world through an intersectional feminist lens. Although contributions are subject to certain criteria, the objective is to offer a submission process without hard gatekeeping and to select contributions based on how they align with the aims and ethos of the journal rather than focusing on the previous achievements of the contributor.
The first issue of the Rewilding journal will feature a range of contributions from eight UK-based artists and academics. Expect critical essays, short stories, autobiography, poetry, and visual art that will nurture your imagination and engage your critical thinking.
What the funds will be used for
The future funds raised with the help of your support will be used to cover printing costs of upcoming issues, marketing materials, and merchandise. The second issue is due to be published at the end of 2026.

Background
The Rewilding journal is an offshoot of artist Henrica Langh's ongoing art project, 'The Untamed Self-Portrait: Rewilding the Female Image', which seeks to question and challenge stereotypical representations of the female body through a process of 'visual rewilding'. Using self-portraiture, collage, and mark-making, the project seeks to oppose traditional representations of the female body as a contained and submissive object of desire by focusing on visual disruption. The Rewilding journal was born from the desire to create a platform for other creatives to explore and voice their experiences and observations through a feminist lens.
Future issues
The Rewilding journal is a biannual publication and the contributions for the next issue of Rewilding: The Stolen Body have already been selected. This is a special issue that looks specifically at issues of objectification, sexualisation, and restricted autonomy. The second issue is due to be published later this year or early next year.
About the creator
Dr Henrica Langh is a transdisciplinary artist and practice-led researcher whose creative practice spans across a wide range of mediums such as photography, textiles, and installation art. She holds a PhD in practice-led research from the University of the Creative Arts and an MA in Applied Imagination from Central Saint Martins. Find about more about her work on her website.
