Save The Space: Protecting Mental Health Support for Local Children and Young People Every Child Deserves Somewhere to Turn
At The Space, we believe that no child should face their struggles alone.
For the past six years, we've provided vital mental health and wellbeing support to children and young people aged 4-17 across our community. Working alongside families, schools and other professionals, we've helped thousands of young people build confidence, resilience and hope during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
Last year alone, we supported more than 1,200 children and young people and worked in partnership with 13 local schools.
Every child who comes through our doors has their own story. Some are experiencing anxiety. Others are struggling with low self-esteem, friendship difficulties, bereavement, family challenges, school-related pressures or overwhelming emotions.
Whatever their circumstances, they all need the same thing: someone to listen and support them before their problems grow bigger.
That is why The Space exists.
Why We Need Your Help
Like many charities, we are facing increasing costs and a challenging funding environment.
Demand for children's mental health support continues to grow, yet funding opportunities are becoming more limited and increasingly competitive.
Today, we are facing a significant financial challenge and need to raise £75,000 by Christmas to secure our future and continue providing vital services to local children, young people and families.
This is not simply about keeping a charity running.
This is about ensuring local children continue to have somewhere safe to talk, process difficult emotions and access professional support when they need it most.
Without urgent support, vital services could be reduced at a time when families need them more than ever.
What We Do
The Space provides a range of early intervention and therapeutic services designed to support emotional wellbeing and positive mental health.
Our support includes:
Counselling
Our counselling programme offers up to 8 sessions, providing young people with a safe and confidential place to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Play Therapy
For younger children, our play therapy programme provides up to 12 sessions, helping children express emotions and experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
Wellbeing Support
We work directly with schools, families and young people to help build resilience, emotional literacy and confidence.
Support for Families
Supporting a young person's mental health often means supporting the people around them too. We work alongside parents, carers and schools to ensure children receive the best possible support.
The Difference Your Donation Will Make
