Aim

To elect a second Scottish Labour councillor in Southside/Newington ward, Edinburgh Central Constituency Labour Party is fundraising.

Hosted by Edinburgh Central CLP in support of Ruth's campaign.

Thank you for visiting my crowdfunder page.

I'm running as the Scottish Labour Candidate in the Southside/Newington by-election.

Following the resignation of the SNP councillor in the Southside/Newington ward, there will be a by-election in the seat on 3rd September, and I have been selected as the Scottish Labour Candidate.

I am an experienced campaigner both within the Labour party and in my local community. Last year I led a campaign against purpose-built student accommodation and almost changed the Housing Bill to regulate it better, and I know how to reach people online. Electing me would mean adding a young perspective to the council, a vital part of our community that often goes underrepresented.

I have lived in this part of Edinburgh for years and couldn't be prouder to call it home. This community is a joy to be a part of and not only would it be an honour to represent it, I am confident I could make a real difference to people's lives.

To win this by-election, I need to raise money to share my message with the residents of the Southside/Newington ward, whether thats by putting leaflets and letters through residents' doors, or sharing our message on their social media feeds.

I know how to campaign, I know what this community needs, I have a fantastic campaigning team, but I need help to resource it.

I’m incredibly grateful for every penny, and it will all go towards direct contact with key voters across the Southside/Newington ward.

Together we can win this by-election and gain another Labour councillor!

Thank you for your time and support.

All the best,

Ruth Elliott and Edinburgh Central and Southern CLPs

Rules

Edinburgh Central CLP may contact you using the information you supply in order to discharge their legal responsibilities to ensure donations are from permissible sources. Donations to meet the costs of candidate election expenses are regulated by the Representation of the People Act 1983 and the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000. By making a donation to this campaign I understand and accept the following:

- I am donating to the Edinburgh Central Constituency Labour Party.

- I must use my own funds to make a donation to the Labour Party.

- If I donate more than £500, checks will be made to ensure my name is listed on the UK electoral register (excluding the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). Any single donations of £500 or under are not regulated donations under electoral law, and therefore the donor would not be required to be on the UK Electoral Register.

- If I donate more than £2,230 to a Constituency Labour Party or more than £11,180 to the national Labour Party in a calendar year, my name and the amount of the donation will be published on the Electoral Commission's website, although my home address will not be made public.

- If I am making a donation of more than £50 during the short campaign (the period after the election has been called), checks will be made to ensure my name is included on the UK electoral register (excluding the Isle of Man and Channel Islands which are not permissible sources). My name and the amount I have donated will be included in the candidate return submitted after the election.

- Donations are not tax-deductible.

- This information will be available for public inspection on request, although my home address will not be made public.

This donation facility is provided for individuals to make donations to the Edinburgh Central CLP. UK companies, limited liability partnerships, trade unions and unincorporated associations may also make donations. Please contact the CLP at [email protected] for more information.

*Permissibility checks will be carried out on individual donors in compliance with the rules laid out by the Electoral Commission on donations in election campaigns. You will be contacted by the Edinburgh Central Secretary to obtain this information. Donor details may be published.*
