On April 19th, CMD and friends will be embarking on a fundraising walk that is about much more than just the miles covered. This journey is a dedicated effort to bring people and organizations together, fostering the connections that make our local area thrive. 🌳

It is a huge year for Atherton Collieries Juniors! The club is currently undergoing major pitch and ground improvements. These upgrades are essential to provide a top-tier environment for our players and fans, ensuring the ground remains a proud pillar of our community for generations to come. Funds from this walk will go directly toward supporting these vital improvements. 🏟️✨
🚶 Why I am Walking: Supporting Our Lads and Our Community
This walk is about two causes close to my heart: the future of our young athletes and the essential care of our seniors. I am raising funds to be split between grassroots football and vital dementia support.
⚽ For the Lads: Atherton Collieries & Astley and Buckshaw Utd
Football is a huge part of our lives. With both my lads playing for Atherton Collieries U21s, I see every week the dedication it takes to keep these clubs running. But for the U21s to have a strong future, we need to support the foundation at the Junior level and the facilities they play on.
For Atherton Collieries: Your donations will help fund the ongoing pitch and ground improvements at Bee Fold Lane.
For Astley and Buckshaw Utd: We are raising money for much-needed football equipment, from training gear to match-day kits.
Your support ensures that all players—from the youngest starters to the older lads like mine—have the facilities and gear they need to develop their skills and enjoy the game. 🏃💨
🧠 For the Community: Genesis North West
The second—and equally urgent—reason for this walk is to support Genesis North West. This is a vital local organization that provides care and dignity for people living with dementia.
Genesis is a lifeline for our community, but they are currently facing significant ongoing operational costs. They provide the care and support our loved ones deserve, but they cannot do it alone. Every penny raised goes directly toward these costs, ensuring they can continue to look after those who need it most. ❤️
